I can't get on with Ladbrokes, but they are the only ones offering 10/1 Statutory in the 4.20.  This one seems sure to stay.  He carries too weight, but has a bit of class.  Think the place terms are very good.

I assume we can still get something on, so suggest 20 e/w at the 10/1 if we can get it.

8/1 i am afraid

juggling too many balls to be very quick this morning

take or leave?

I took 9/1 with Shy.  Am just going out, if it is less than that elsewhere, give it a miss.

ok 9/1 betway and the exchange only so will leave it and check later

All 3 handicaps are down to 16 already, so definitely a good decision.

though maybe not, started 10/1 and we got 16.  scraped 4th.

Well done Doobsy. Think Fred missed the price, & so had to swerve it, but no matter, it's all good.

I know, thought it was a good decision and just got back in time for the race so couldn't retip it when I realised it was 10/1.  Back in the saddle tomorrow.

For those, like me, weho are usually badly restricted @ Ladbrokes, always worth having a look & seeing what they'll allow.

I just had a look at a few short-priced horses @ York, (2/1, that sort of price) & they'd allow me £250. For longer-priced horses, correspondingly less.

Mentioned before I think but you're much better off ringing Laddies rather than trying to place online.

Even if you're restricted they'll often let you have more of a flick over the phone, depending on which trader you get and in what kind of mood I guess.

0808-100-1124

"Acct number XXX, Name TV's Anthony Kendall. Please can I have etc etc"

Yes, fair point, I just can't get my head round making phone calls to make bets, I try & hide my phone all day in case it rings.

You are right though, & the advice is appreciated.

Time for Jeeves to get a full time job?

You remember Ted Rogers Tony, the 3-2-1 guy. He used to get his PA to ring up and place his bets every day, nothing big just him having a bet on the horses really. She would ask what price each horse was and you could hear Ted next to her saying 'take that' ' 'is that all it is, no leave that one' etc.

Must be great to be too showbiz to pick up the phone ;o)

Tighty and others, when do we start thinking about backing the Cowboys to beat the 49ers on 7 September?

Two very heavy defeats in preseason so far (aggregate of 57-3) contract disputes, a reportedly very unhappy dressing locker room and playing away against a team that can only attack.

Currently 21/10 for the Cowboys to win. 5.5 points the spread, if that appeals instead, although I think that's about the same anyway.

I watched both of those games and 49ers were not at the races and bar an end zone long ball they barely attempted a pass over 15 20 yards and then just took out the starters. Think the over was a really good bet for a few reasons as Rich said, Dallas D looking so poor and the O looking like it's going to need to be prolific to keep them in games. Small downside could be that Dallas might try to control games on the ground a little more early in games and O line might let them do that.

Thought Kool Kompany would be <2/1 for the sales race at York tomorrow and expect him to be by the time they jump off.

Hillies are 11/4. Stick it in with the double on July @ 1/5 and he becomes 7/2. Another cracking spot if we don't mind tieing up funds till the autumn.

11/4 worth taking anyway imo. Group 1 horse in a sales race, drawn near side and goes with the pace.

Ted Rogers would be all over this.

I couldn't believe this stat  Rich, Cowboys run game looks set to have a good season again but the difference between their number 2 ranking and Philly's number 1 is amazing isn't it?

Number:
100.2 – Grade given by Pro Football Focus to the Eagles’ offensive line for run blocking last season, nearly 70 points higher than the second-ranked Cowboys.

Surely Ted Rogers would have waited for....wait for it...3 to 1?

Apparent stall on Mackay taking over at Palace, with Millen set to take charge against West Ham.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/crystal-palace-pursuit-malky-mackay-4080135

Makes our bet a lot more interesting if Palace find a win, hopefully. If we had lasted just a few more mins at Arsenal there would be a lot more noise for Millen now, but could still do it.

Mackay was a long time at 1.01 and now is at 1.91

Millen was at 100 this morning, into 11 now.

The Cowboys O Line is the definite strength to the team

Since last season they drafted Zach Martin in the first round who is looking terrrific

really they wanted to draft defense, but Donald and Shazier went just before they picked, so they went best player available

that gives them 3 out of 5 starting O Linemen as first round picks, and real road graders too

the cowboys runnign game should be tremendous, and if it does then watch out for big numbers for dez bryant and witten as teams will need to put extra defenders in the box to stop the run opening up downfield 1 on 1

So the idea is that

a) the protect Romo, who is one more back injury away from the end

b) keep the other offense off the field by running a lot more, as the Defense looks so poor

the problem with this is the new O co-ordinator Scott Linehan is a big play passing game man with no history of conservative ball control offense

In the NFC East the Cowboys look flawed, 8-8 at best, the Skins should be improved (but i don't really rate the new head coach, and am not optimistic about RG3 making it through any season uninjured with his running style) and i think will finish second in the divison and the Giants are in mid re-build with unpromising initial signs (they really need a coaching change, coughlin there too long)

I really really like our bets on McCoy most rushing, mvp..eagles to win the nfc east, eagles to win nfc etc

the eagles should have a really deep run at it this year and a major reason is the O line will allow Kelly and his innovations via mccoy/sproles/ertz/maclin/cooper/matthews to create an awful lot of offense
