That time of the week were I come along and suggest we get against Celtic in the forth coming SPL match due to us having played in Europe tonight - not very well - and our form after these games has been pretty poor.

We don't have depth in the squad, despite thrashing Ross County at the weekend, nothing special there as they have taken 4 points in 10 games.  We looked pretty poor this evening.  We have drawn 1 - 1 with Motherwell (we got a late penalty) and lost 1 - 0 to Hamilton after prevous European games on the Thursday (both at Parkhead)  On Sunday we play Kilmarnock who sit above us in the table although we have a game in hand, the general consensus pre-season was Killie would suffer due to losing Kris Boyd to Rangers in the summer.  However they have more than held their own and will present a tough test for a poor Celtic team.

They are 14/1 on betfair same prices as Mortherwell and Hamilton were.  On the day of the games both prices drifted by a point in the hour prior to kick off.  I don't see that happening this time as I think there are more people lining up to take Celtic on.

I suggest we have

£20 at 14/1 Killie win - Betfair (Best price with books is 12/1 with VC)
Killie +1.75 Asian Handicap £40 @ 9/8 (with VC)
2 more flyers that may have some value:  Tope Obadeyi FGS £10 @ 20/1 with 365 (He's hardly prolific but has 4 goals in 9 games.  Looks quite pacey which will trouble Celtic backline.
£10 FGS Josh Magennis @ 14/1 with 365/Satan James

this game is at Celtic?

the FGS bets are very unlikely that we'd get on

i assume the other bets are valid still?

Yes game is at Celtic park similar to the Hamilton/Motherwell games.  I know I put up Motherwell can't remember if I stuck Hamilton up.    This Celtic team is by far the worse I have watched in the last 20 0dd years.   they look worse than teams ut out by Liam Brady/Lou Macari

Scottish Labour Leader?

We like anyone here before the prices go up, I have had a qick look can't see any odds with usual suspects.

I'd be interested in Jackie Baillie, she has the ego and ambition.  I think they will stick with a female given that the Tories and SNP have female leaders.   There have been rumours of either Jim Murphy or Gordon Brown taking on the challenge as bothe are persona non grata with the Westminister Labour Party.

Two others who might be worth a mention are Kezia Dugdale and Jenny Marra.  If Jenny could sleep her way to the job she would.

SLab as you know are a shambles and looks incapable of returning the 35 or so MPs they need in May. The Holyrood MSPs list reads like a who's that of Scottish politics. Dugdale and Marra are to young and inexperienced (amongst other things) to do the job.
I think Milliband will feel he needs to send one of his perceived WM big hitters up to sort it out. Brown thinks he's too good for it and it would involve too much hard work (actually turning up every now and again for example), his ambitions obviously lie elsewhere. Alexander isn't going to fancy it with being the shadow Foreign Secretary he would also see it as a step back. That probably only leaves Murphy and Curran. Murphy is the ultimate careerist and you really can't see him pulling the party together, he's also probably the most toxic with the Yes voting Labour voters.

That leaves Margaret Curran. She's been trying to make the right noises over the last week or so, is current Shadow Scottish Secretary and maybe just as important Shettleston is winnable for the SNP in May so she might see it as an opportunity more than the others.

Do we know what the process is?

I think personally they will stick with a woman, I do agree that Dugdale and Marra may be considered young but I also think thats what they need is a whole rebranding.  I assume they will likely try and resort to moving to the left.

I think Shettleston is a constituency the SNP can win, therefore pressure is on Curran.  I along with a few others have already come up with a lovely poster that will be distributed to every household in the Glasgow East  constituency that will apply even more pressure to our wee Maggie.  She is also a very close friend of Johann, not sure if this will be seen as a hinderance given the comments the departed one has made about Labour MP's.  Curran hasn't long left Holyrood, were she was a bit of a shambles not sure I can see her getting back in there in all honesty.

The above aside following a review of the way the Labour Party operated in Scotland carried out by Big Jim and his wee pal Sarah Boyack  this is how the Labour selections process will work:

Any Scottish Labour MP (Member of Parliament), MSP (Member of the Scottish Parliament) or MEP (Member of the European Parliament) may stand for election as either leader or deputy leader. Successful nomination requires the support of 12.5% of the total number of Scottish Labour's parliamentarians in the Scottish Parliament, the House of Commons, and the European Parliament, with any candidate needing at least one nomination from two of these three institutions.[6] At the opening of formal nominations at the Scottish Labour conference on 29 October,[9] the party had a total of 80 such parliamentarians, meaning a total of 10 nominations was required.

Once the nomination process by parliamentarians is complete, supporting nominations made be made for each candidate by Scottish Constituency Labour Parties (CLPs), trade unions that are affiliated to the Labour Party, affiliated socialist societies, Scottish Young Labour, and individual local councillors.[6]

I have also heard rumours that the SNP intend to send in a big dog against Anus Sarwar at the next GE, rumour has it if you believe the word on the St that Samlond is being lined up for that one and he seems quite keen on the idea from what I am hearing.  So maybe he is a runner in this, but I don't see it.  I honestly think they will go down the female route.

She will have the worst of the conditions going out last in the final run. Depending on how badly the course ruts up, anyone within a second can still win this with a clean run.

That's OTT, they're bad but they're not THAT bad. Yet.

Individually we have some better players but we aren't that far away from that level.  Can you remember a team that has looked or performed as bad since the days of Macari?

I don't think Burns/Jansen/Dr Jo/Barnes/O'Neil/Strachan/Mowbray/Lennon put out a team as bad.  I think once Mowbray lost the dressing room and we got pumped of Killie that might be close to it but as a team I don't we have been as bad.

I'm trying to think of an XI from back then but a few I'm not sure on.  Because we chopped and changed as much as Delia has.

Bonner

Gillespie
McNally
Mowbray
Boyd

McGinlay
Grant
McStay
Collins

Nicholas
Creaney

Not sure if that XI ever started but from memory those are the players I remember playing most.   Few changess could be made Shitey Galloway, Paul Byrne, Simon Donnelly and  Wdowczyk made a few appearances in those days then Macar gave us the likes of Biggins, Muggleston, Payton, Slater, Gray, O'Neill.

At least 4 of the above would make it into the team tomorrow if they were of an age to play.  I'd probably still take a 50 year old Paul McStay over a few of them.

Poshies have played five times on a Tuesday night this season: LLLLL

How bout dem Notts County though!

Wish you stuck that up earlier.

I didn't rec a bet on the game?

Coventry-Posh should be interesting at the weekend. Coventry are awful and can't defend.

Poshies had two centre backs sent off tonight, Baldwin and Bostwick, and both will presumably be suspended on Saturday. Christian Burgess is also out with a hip problem, as is left-back Kgosi Nthle.

That means we're left with Zakuani, who's a bit-part player these days, Ricardo Santos, who will be deece but is a bit of a rabbit at the moment, and RB Michael Smith.

My guess is we'll have Zak and Santos in the middle, switch Smith to left-back, which I don't think suits, and the adaptable/ordinary Kane Ferdinand in at right-back.

This feels like a spot we shouldn't miss, so flick in fifth on over 4.5 at 7-1 with Shut'em down Vic at 7-1 ta.

i missed this at the time

should i be doing this?

what does a "fifth" mean in this context?

Ffs Laddies have opened a book but I was restricted to £2 on Curran at 25/1 and Baillie at 10/1. Dugdale is 3/1 and Marra 16/1. Sarwar is 2/1 fav, I could have a whole £5 on him, I declined.
