Bansha Mo t4 8.15 Wimbledon, posting bit late as some prices gone but take 9-4 bet365- sp will be 13/8
Quoted for feelgood factor, yesterday's highglight, which burst out of the traps, was never in danger, & flew home by 6.5 lengths, with an SP of 6/5.

No-one else is going to start this thread, so I'm going to start it myself.
Our hero is teetering on the brink of getting back into sports gambling, but is resisting because he reckons, deep down, he's a mug punter.
So I reckon with all the good sports betting punters (and Boldie too) on here, we can tun Tiikay from ice cream to shark.
The idea is for him to start with a bank of £1000, and for people to regular posters to chip in with selections with a maximum stake of 5% of his current bank.
No more than one selection per poster per week I think and make a post with a cogent argument as to why the bet should be made.
I guess I'll start.
£40 Michel Hazanavicus Best Director Oscar @ 5/8 bwin
This really is a no-brainer bet. The Artist is a stunning piece of work, and has received hugely positive reviews and is definitely the sort of movie which will appeal to the Academy. Instead of backing it to win Best Picture at a prohibitive 3/10, take the bigger odds about the director triumphing. 8 of the last 9 Best Picture winners have also scooped the Best Director award. The major danger is Scorsese obviously. But he won his Oscar (finally) in 2007 with The Departed, and from the consensus reviews I have read, Hugo is not another Godfather. And the 3 d aspect is unlikely to appeal to traditionalists.
I think Hazanavicus will be considerably shorter come Oscars night and is a great bet at 5/8
Also quoted for feelgood, this is where it began - with a winner at what turned out to be a great value price. Before we start the March adventure tomorrow, Camel & the Elders might want to re-define the rules. (e.g., "one selection per week" might need revising).
Failing that, we'll continue as is.
Best regards,
former Ice Cream.

What a great race, what a buckle that 9.25 was, top class. Greyhound racing at it's very best there.
Like Grundy and Bustino.
Fantastic stuff.
What a memory!
Walwyn & Hern, Eddery & Mercer. Grundy was out of Great Nephew & Word from Lundy, Bustino by Busted, though I can't recall the dam. Grundy was owned by an Italian, Bustino by Lady Baverbrook.
Got the T-Shirt, the book, the lot.
All her horses were named with seven letter words. Do you know why?
I believe that is a myth, Keith, though it is true most of them were, but I've no idea why.
I think the ones which weren't 7 letter words were ones she bought after they were named.
She looked through the history of the Derby and worked out 7 letters was the most popular among winners.
Yes, I'll buy that, makes sense. Never knew why the 7 letter thing, though.
I do know she had a Rolls Royce, painted in her racing colours, which is neat, or it was until the IRA strapped a bomb underneath it one day.
She owned an amazing 7f animal called "Boldboy", she had him gelded, he usually sweated shocking, & played up at the stalls, but a really game animal, especially @ Newbury, he could deliver over any distance from 5f to a mile, too, though he was best at 7f.
OK, sorry for thread divert, but you touched a great memory there.
It was the Angry Brigade, not the IRA and the bomb did not go off. The Rolls Royce is now in the Motor Museum at Beaulie (sp)
Happy to help as I know bugger all bout horses.
Geo
Happy to stand corrected, Geo, sorry, & thanks. A most unfortunate error to confuse the IRA with the Angry Brigade.
PS - What are you doing on a degens thread? Not sure Red would approve!
Anyway, here is Lady B's Rolls-Royce which, as you note, is in Beaulieu - Keith might note, continuing the Lady B theme, it has a "7" or "77" numberplate.
No probs sir,
I knew because as part of my education for promotion some years back I did a bit on the Angry Brigade. Nice find with The roller and the 7's on the number plate.
Degen - not my bag, however like most threads here we often go off on a tangent where people with a thirst for learning like myself can learn so much more than how to place a bet or take photographs.

Thanks Bro.
Umm - I DO know, of course, but just trying be helpful to my less informed degenerate colleagues - err, what sport is that, where, when what, please?
Is it Darts?
PS - More seriously, we need a recommended "price", to assess whether he/she/they are "value" or not, & to ensure I get on - or not - at the "correct" price.
Camel shouts at me if I take a bad price.

Just a suggestion Tony, with the Cheltenham festival taking place in a few weeks how do you feel about a Blondepoker tipster comp for the meeting. Stakes to be decided between us, with a few caps and sweat shirts thrown in too?

Love it!
Come up with some ideas, please, I've got no idea what would work best, & I'll come up with some prizes or whatever.
