Just spotted this excellent 'Tips for Tikay' betting Forum a Couple of days ago , as i am not a regular on Blonde recently.

Great posts and Banter....

If i can provide any good selections towards your Fund goal , i will put some up.

How long do you intend to run this ?

And what is the goal ?  Or is that a silly question ?

See there are a lot of Quality Tipsters on here , so i might take up some of the advice

To be honest i Mainly do Football betting in the Lower leagues in England , but now the Season has ended will have to wait to the new Season !!

Any other Choices i feel warrant a mention , i will post up here

Thanks Ian.

Any "recommends" from you will be considered, along with everything else. If your tip does not get selected, don't take it personal, we can't back them all.

If you are a lower league Football specialist, that's cool, when the season starts again, get the tips in. Most of our profit comes from football, so life here will be tough for a month or two.

The goal? There are several.

First & foremost, way above ALL else, is to have some fun. It's what we join a forum for, yes?

Next up, ideally, not to lose any, or much, money. If we get x hours fun per month & it cost us, say, £200, even that would be value, but pride & ego means we'd rather win.

If we won a tidy sum - say, £5k or more, in Year One (assuming we last the year), I'd probbly re-invest it in a communal thing, buy a cheap grader dog, or somesuch.

If we lose the lot, that's it, we did a fail.

The ORIGINAL purpose was Camel's daft notion that after 12 years on the Betting wagon, he could get me interested in sports betting again. He failed there, obv.

As it happens, things turned out differently, & it's become a sort of Idiots Guide to Sensible Punting, & we are blessed with some serious pro punters who share tips, & show us the ropes.

Somehow, it has become the busiest thread on blonde, maybe because we don't have any rucks, aftertiming, (any aftertimers get a Thread Veto), or bad blood, we just enjoy it, win or lose, & nobody gets dissed. Except Chompy, obv.

Welcome.

Bugger.

KP first out.

We are not doing so good in this 2nd Test, we are 0 for about £200 so far!

To make it worse, Rampaul has got all three wickets so far, so our Roachy bet is in intensive care, for another £60.

Yuck, this looks horrid to me.  I used to watch the Americas cup when it was on, but sailing just isn't much of a watch.  He is obviously absolute top class at what he does, but nobody will be watching.  I expect far more to tune into the jessica ennis and mo farad silvers golds.

Ennis 6's (and 6/4 to win heptathalon) and an obvious danger.  Farah is (7/4 the 5k and 9/4 the 10k)  So whilst the sailing won't smash the viewing figure records, we do get 16s to help compensate.  In recent years, there have been no shortage of winners from 'non-main stream' sports, as well as a few dubious personalities...

Ultimately, I don't post much here as I don't consider myself to be particularly shrewd.  I couldn't price up a horse race accurately, or quickly spot a betting rick as some do.  Rather than being restricted, for example, bet £3.65 send me letters every day, Christmas cards, birthday presents etc.  Guessing that's not good.

3.40 curragh irish 1000 guineas

8 runners look set to start so has an ideal eway shape to the race especially with the fav having possible doubts.

Homecoming Queen had the advantage of being only one of two fillies only loaded once in the english guineas (big advantage in my opinion as there was a very long delay, the second was the only other filly only loaded once) The ground was described as good to soft but the times suggest that the ground was at best soft something which so far has seen her best performances very different to the ground on the fast side today.

Yellow rosebud looks progressive but has never encountered ground like this and its pedigree suggests this will not suit (jeremy the sire has never had a winner on ground with firm in it) the horse also had a very hard race last time.

After has to be respected as do all second strings from this stable however looks to have a touch of the slows to me. The rest are not good enough on known form.

I have had a maximum eway bet on LA COLLINA 9-2 best price now at 11-2 yesterday i still think 9-2 offers a fair shout. This horse is tough has some really good formlines with power who won yesterday and loves the rattling quick ground. It is another positive that her veteran trainer had a priced winner and a big priced placed runner yesterday.

Shouldn't we be looking closely at 6/1 Ennis? What price we thinking if she wins the Heptathlon, Murray chokes Wimbledon and England bomb out in the Euros? She is the darling of the tabloids. For me, far better value than sailor boy.

Thanks Horsey.

For clarification, if current best price 9/2, are we still Each Way?

I get very confused with this ew "value or not" thing. Personally, I'd be quite happy ew.

The tricky thing with SPOTY  nowadays is it doesn't pay to be English as for example one Scottish nominee can get such a big % of the actual votes from Scottish people. Do you think in an Olympic year that there could be a lot of English Olympians in the reckoning. Could that widen the gap between the votes being spread out amongst them and the votes for players from the other nations that can have the ear of a big number of voters almost exclusively?

Don't like the SPOTY bet, but good luck

My tip, because in part of the huge patriotism the Welsh and Scottish show in public voting contests (X Factor etc) is a Welshman

Dai Greene at 50-1, each way

He's a reasonably good thing to win Gold (2011 world gold, 2010 European gold), so thats a tick
He's going to attract huge support across his country in voting if he does, tick
He's under the radar in betting markets, tick

Think he is enormous value

Ennis of course, but she might get silver
Adlington and Hoy yes but well exposed in betting terms
Mo Farah yes but 7/1
Sailing a minority sport

Murray won't win Wimbledon
England won't win the Euros
Not an Ashes year for the cricketers
Won't be rugby
Golf? Not in an Olympic year

London Olympics, SPOTY should be an Olympian and here you are offered 50-1 about an athlete!

2011 breakdown

Breakdown of the vote:

Mark Cavendish 169,152 (49.47%)

Darren Clarke 42,188 (12.34%)

Mo Farah 29,780 (8.71%)

Luke Donald 23,854 (6.98%)

Andy Murray 18,754 (5.48%)

Andrew Strauss 17,994 (5.26%)

Alastair Cook 13,038 (3.81%)

Rory McIlroy 11,915 (3.48%)

Dai Greene 9,022 (2.64%)

Amir Khan 6,262 (1.83%)

Get on, fellas
