In play currently Andy Murray has taken the first set 6-1 against Marian Cilic in the quarter final of the ATP China Open and is 3-2 up with a break in the second
The Kansas City Royals began their five game ALDS series against the Los Angeles Angels last night. The AL West champions Angels were prohibitive favourites with a very powerful line up highlighted by all time great slugger Albert Pujols, who they recruited out of the national league with a $200m contract specifically to win them titles, and the excellent young player Mike Trout, last year's rookie of the year. Thier pitcher was their ace, Jared Weaver
The Royals had flown to LA straight after their wild card victory, and pitching for them was Justin Vargas. Erratic and inexperienced
The Royals took a two nil lead, but the Angels came back to 2-2 after 4 innings
The match then took on the attritional characteristics you expect of Royals games. Good defense, strong pitching and not a lot of hitting. At the end of the seventh inning Vargas was replaced and the bullpen of relief pitchers came into action
After the regulation 9 innings the match was still tied, so once again it was extra innings
In the eleventh inning, with two outs, number nine hitter (the spot reserved for the worst hitter) Mike Moustakas hit a solo home run to take the Royals ahead
It was now down to the Royals closers, closers being really fast pitchers, often with nasty sliders and cutters, their job being to "close" games out. The first two outs came quickly and in came one of the best closers in the league Greg Holland. He had not flown to LA with the rest of the team as his wife was due to give birth. She did yesterday. He attended, got on a flight and was now in the game. One out required.
He got the out, the Royals took a 1-0 lead

The bullpen had allowed one hit over five innings.
They play the second game tonight with our old friend the fireball throwing rookie Yordano Ventura at the plate for the Royals
This has begun to have the look of one of the great stories, whatever happens from here

Meanwhile, things were complicated in Tighty land. Simultaneous to the Royals, The Green Bay Packers were playing the Mnnesota Vikings. One side of the bed had laptop and MLB stream, the other tablet and Sky Sports. Soon, both needed charging. I lay motionless, with chargers and extension cords everywhere. I contemplated moving the bed towards the plug sockets. I decided it was too much trouble. I did though have to postpone updating my quarterback rating spreadsheets, which was frustrating
We have the Packers to win the Superbowl, and Aaron R for comeback player of the year. The Packers have had a mixed start to the season, 2-2 record but caught a break last night when rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was ruled out for the Vikings and Christian Ponder had to play, at Lambeau off a short week. When Ponder was drafted and played for Minnesota previously the playbook was reasonably simple. Pages 1-32 contained the same instruction "Hand the ball off to Adrian Peterson". With that option not available, Ponder struggled and Green Bay led 42-0 at the end of the third quarter at which time Rodgers was rested

He had 156 yards and three touchdowns. The Vikings defense gifted another three touchdowns
A below average 156 yards was actually great news for our Matt Ryan bet, as in a 42-0 blow out 300-400 yards would be feasible, except much of this was Vking self destruction
Running back Eddie Lacy, like a green pick up truck with dreadlocks, ran over the defense all night for over 100 yards and two touchdowns

Interestingly, because i don't think Thursday night football really works, too much of a disadvantage to the away team, the aggregate score on the last five thursday games is now 179-36 to the home team

No UKIP seats, which i think is correct
Incredibly, 10/11 under 32.5 LD seats Ladbrokes is still available
http://www.oddschecker.com/politics/british-politics/next-uk-general-election/total-seats-liberal-democratsThis is now my single biggest bet lifetime. Yesterday i counted, i have gone in 17 times and the seat spread has moved down one spot
Next may, you'll find me in a hostel if Ladbrokes are right
