I'm going to Bulgaria for 5 days in April so Pete will be looking after them on his own. He will find the school run very challenging but he's probably more capable and certainly more willing than you would imagine and I'm sure they'll have a whale of a time.

IS there a stat for how often historically onside kicks work?

Has a team or perhaps a particular coach ever been known as an onside kick specialist?

I've never really taken an interest in the NFL, watched a couple of superbowls but never really had an interest in knowing what was going on. Those two games yesterday were great to watch though, def got me hooked.

I do have a question though

In the Bronchos game when they were down 21-10 with under a minute left, how were they supposed to overcome that lead in under a minute? They would have to score a TD,regain possession and then score a field goal just to tie all in under a minute with every advance going out of bounds so as not to run down the clock if I'm understanding the scoring correctly. Has this ever actually happened?

each NFL team has a "special teams" coach whose job it is to prepare kick return teams, punt teams, kickers, kick off teams etc and the onside kick is part of that remit

special teams groups amongst the players are a work of art. you need speedsters to return, and to be the "gunners" to chase the kicks, you need big guys to block and also, for onside kicks the teams would have "hands teams"

whereas most special teams units involve back ups, the hands teams often involve the stars playing special teams. Whoever has the best hands to catch

so for example i know dez bryant and jason witten are on the dallas "hands team"
