shelvey played well for first ten minutes yesterday then was a huge liability for the rest of the first half. Gave the ball away around 7 times in a row, some silly fouls etc. I think he's just not safe enough to play as a central midfielder for England.

Hopefully some remembered how excited I was about montero being signed this time last year.
Woooooooosh brilliant to watch as is jonjo shelvey must be in the euros squad for me
I was thinking of that very post after watching Ivanovic being ripped up in the first game. On the basis of first 2 games, Montero looks set for an outstanding season after settling in the country for a year.

Consistency seems to be his issue. I remember him destroying Arsenal last year but then disappearing.

Great English mentality this
Don't pick someone who tries to play forward progressive football because he gives the ball away to much. Fwiw his ball retention stats are much improved last season and he is still newish to senior football as I said last season.
Consistency with montero? Can say the same for every winger in world football bar the top few

Big statement of intent here from City.

Imperious performance.
However, if Chelsea are 7/2 after this for the title, they're at their lowest ebb right now, know where they need to recruit and will improve. That kind of price, if it gets chalked up, would feel to me like an overreaction.
Views?
Edit: Billy Mountain is right in there at 7/2

Would think two things could happen
Chelsea spend a shedload before the window
Or
Everything falls apart a bit JM sulks and leaves noting his hands were tied and he could not buy anyone
One way 7/2 would look big depending who they buy but then they also potentially lose their strongest asset.
Could be way wrong of course

Option B is viable but, unless it all goes completely mammories skywards, they'll still be competitive. A silly loss of two points against a spirited Swansea and beaten by a peak performance Citeh. It shouldn't be panic stations. Jose has the dressing room still, surely?

That might depend on how JT reacts to being humiliated at half-time,

Baba Rahman deal confirmed, so they've started already! Bill Kenwright might want to turn his 'phone off.
Agree, Karabiner. He did sit on the bench tho and Jose was full of charm and pro team in the interview.

The trip to WBA next weekend feels massive for Chelsea already now. Doubt Pulis will play 2 up top like he did against City so doesn't feel the best fixture next up.

I think we should make an early small bet of £30 on Birmingham at 2/1 + at home to Derby on Friday. Reasons:
1) Derby have Boro midweek and think that game will take a lot out them and they'll play the first team. Quick turnaround to Friday.
2) Brum have a re-arranged game v Gills in League Cup on Tuesday so will probably rest players
3) Some of the Derby players look fat
4) Brum decent start/Derby stuttered to 2 draws.

I didn't watch the post-match interview, assumed he'd send the new physio out to face the music.
