I thought the old odds involving and were down to the old currency for crowns/ half crowns in a pound, so they linked it back to a pound for the punter.

Tikay is pretending not to be au fait with pre-decimal currency..

Thought he was suggesting throwing something old and sub-optimal on the scrapheap? Dear me what if bookmakers took that attitude across the board.

The 4's and 8's def only work properly with 12 pennies and 24 shillings but, I might be guessing here, that was the coinage when tikay had a Saturday job and made his seditious suggestion.

Ha, it'd be mid to late sixties, so yeah, pre-decimal coinage.

Still makes no sense to me, but as 2xUp notes, there's something rather quaint & lovely about 11/8, 13/8, 9/4, 11/10, 85/40 & so on.

It would make perfect sense in those days to someone who had one or two pounds on at those odds though, even without attending settler-school.

With Walsall and Gillingham both losing, I'm happy that we're now pretty much heads-up v Burton for the win part. Might think about backing them too. Will look into it this week.

Definite contender for Ernie's "Fastest milk-cart in the West".

Anyone who backed Poshies to finish in the top six back in the day.

Scuybet are 2-7 that we don't finish in the top six. This is almost like finding it in the street.

Greta sung it in English. Even better. Not even Vicky Pendleton could get this good thing beaten.
