PS - Did you see Tal's suggested NFL bet? What did you decide?

thought you had accepted it, its on the spreadsheet.

should be a decent multi-week sweat

No, I only reserved our position, pending your decision.

Anyway, we are on now, which should give us some fun.

His Camel-ness mentioned Dallas as lively outsiders. Any views on that?

I was surprised to see England above evens for the match vs Slovakia on Sunday. Any thoughts?

no feedback at all

is there any?

thread works best when questions are answered....!

I really don't know much about the Slovakian side, but above evens does sound like a decent price. England are going to want to prove they can play football again and more so, try and impress the new gaffer.

wrong person to ask.

but

too much talent on offense not to win some games (run it 40 times a game probably behind that OL and keep the ball away from the other side), even if the quarterback situation and defense is as poor as they potentially could be

well

Slovakia were in England's group in the Euros. slovakia had a win and a draw in the group and got beaten convincingly by the germans in the last 16

we battered them 0-0 in our middle game, the one where the full backs provided all our width and the front five did very little despite having 70% possession against 11 behind the ball

Hamsik is their star player, teenage mutant ninja skretel takes on anything thrown at him at the back

the stadium is an odd one, and the atmosphere gets fierce

so in england's favour

going to look very solid at the back? with Dier in front of something like walker-smalling-stones-shaw?

Big Samuel has decades of experience at organising sides to not lose games, and setting up accordingly

wouldn't expect it to be prety flowing football and he has to shoehorn Rooney in somewhere in whatever formatuion he goes with (4-2-3-1?)

i wondered about 1-0 (will look up price in a bit) and England to win to nil at 2-1.

would think u2.5 and both teams to score no would be strong favourites too (again need to look)

I like a football bet at the weekend.

Notts County at 17/10 against Grimsby.

On way back from York races after Ebor meeting I got talking to four older Notts County fans on their way back from seeing them win at Hartlepool.

They said they'd had a slow start in first couple of games but John Sheridan who manages them now had got them playing well and were looking very good going forward with players like Alan Smith pulling the strings in midfield and John Stead up front.

I think they will have too much for Grimsby.

Whilst its still early in the season, I think 17/10 is too big.

Recommend £20 bet. I can accommodate on bet every day if you want it.

Perhaps get a view from Tighty/others.

Could i have some views please?

WBA are 7/2 to go down

Pulis typically organises teams so effectively that gathering sufficient points to stay up is a given

this time round

a) he stated 5 players would come in on deadline day
b) only Nyom and Hal Robson one hit wonder did to follow Chadli last week
c) a couple of WBA friends i know tell me the team lacks pace and goals and are gloomy. style of play is always puritan at best and boring at worst
d) the takeover by the chinese hasn't led to the transformation hoped forand jeremy peace is still involved (and blocked some incoming transfers?)
e) Pulis could walk? sounds frustrated
f) and if he did the x points his experience are worth go with him?

relevant local press. not upbeat

http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/west-bromwich-albion-fc/2016/08/26/ally-robertson-tony-pulis-bears-brunt-of-failures-at-top/

the bottom of the table is v competitive

Moyes thinks Sunderland are in a relegation battle
Middlesbrough might not be but Burnley and Hull almost certainly will be
Palace as well, Swansea maybe
Watford look vulnerable etc etc
then an outlier such as a bournemouth

i suppose the consensus will tell me that there are going to be three worse teams than WBA, or is it an interesting relegation price?

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/relegation

I'm not as worried about Watford as I was a few weeks back.  Pereyra, Janmaat, Kennedy, Okaka and Kabul have added real depth to the squad in all areas.  Also Success is finally up and running and looks a handful.  Our horror start continues with West Ham away and Man Utd at home, but after that we start moving into easier games and I'd expect us to rise up the table.  Predict a 13th-15th place finish based on what I have seen so far.  My main concern is the manager not speaking English at the moment, although he has an excellent CV, and the continued poor form of Deeney/Ighalo.

I'm more nervous about Swanseas (my team) fate than I was a couple of weeks back, I think a lot depends on the quality of new signing of Baston who hasn't played yet due to injury.

I Guess it all depends on wether Pulis walks or not (he did at Palace in similar circumstances), really can't see them getting relegated if he doesn't.

Fao Dung, what do you think about Mazzarri next manager to leave post at 9/1? Pardew is probably the obvious choice here due to form but is only 3/1

Regarding Mazzarri the board have backed him with players, so I think they'll give him time to bed in his 3-5-2 and 4-3-3 formations which are different to last season.  We have such a hard first 5 games I think it's a given that we'll be in the lower reaches for the first couple of months.  I'd say he is only vulnerable if we get to December and we are still struggling to make things gel after an easier run of games.  I'd probably rather be on Pardew I think, just because he has to deliver quicker with a host of high profile signings.

That can't be a good thing for the Club, Pulis does not like to be messed around & would walk if need be.

There has not been much feedback to your suggestion of WBA being value @ 7/2 for relegation.

I think a modest investment is in order, so go ahead if you fancy it & can still get a value price.

Ladbrokes and betfairnosportsbook only at 7/2

perhaps a home for the £20 from the void bet earlier in the week on your next somnolent perambulance?

BET PLACED

There is very little chance of Dallas capitulating to that extent. But that's why they're 80/1. I doubt they'll even finish bottom in their div let alone the league.

I second the pick of 49ers worst record. They have a very tough schedule and not much talent.

Afternoon Mr T.

Your mission, should you choose to do it, is to get £20 on Youhzny to win a set v Djokovic tonight. He is 7/4 with ladbrokes. We know that Djokovic has injury concerns and he now faces a player with 2wins under his belt. Youhzny also has a decent record against Djokovic with 3 wins in 9 meetings so he is not going to be phased in the slightest.

Suggest £20 Youhzny to win a set at 7 to 4 with ladbrokes.

Glad to see they have knocked down that old Palace in Hampton..... and built some places for Londoners to commute from.
