Larry Flints game was a Stud game (so limit) which is still pretty fucking big but not anywhere near 2k/4k no limit size.
As far as games I know of, the most common game that runs in bobby's room these days in 600/1200 (often 6/12/2400) Mixed games with a variety of games depending on the players, limit games are generally higher variance than NL I know someone who plays that game and he says a "stnd" swing for that game would be $50-$70k to give you an idea of how that plays. The biggest NL game that runs in Vegas on a semi-reg basis is $100/$200 at the Aria in a game run by Bobby Baldwin but you'd pretty much NEVER get a seat in that game and it only ever plays 7handed. Steve Aioki is a regular in it I believe
I know there are some huge private games in L.A I heard of them being as big as $500/$1000/$2000 but I'd be surprised if they ran anywhere near frequent I have no real insight in L.A private games so can only speculate - a friend of mine plays regulally (ish) in a $100/$200 plo game there which is still pretty fucking big
Also the rake in these games is unreal - I've heard of like 10% UNCAPPED rake before in big games - lesson being the house always wins
I
I think nowadays the regular high stakes action is ALL in Macau, I don't really know anything about Macau other than what I've been told by Sam and Andy but I think the biggest game that runs decently often is
$10k/HK$20k NL which is like the equivalent to $1300/$2600 ~ I think these games often play with a BTN ante as well so thats pretty fucking huge lol. Don't think we can class this as a regular game tho, what the biggest game that runs all the time is in Macau I have no idea, prolly somewhere near 150/300 US$ level that's just a guess.
I personally don't think we'll EVER see $500/$1k back online like the full tilt nosebleed explosion caused and crack cocaine nosebleed live games just can't ever really run regularly because there just isn't the liquidity to support them, not many pro's can put themselves in a $500/$1000 game without selling a big chunk of action so unless someone they thought was value SPECIFICALLY wanted to play that high there is no real incentive to try get games above 50/100 ~ level not that those games aren't massive as it is - I've seen people lose $200,000 in a day playing $50/$100 plo for example

Uncapped 10% rake.. Must make good business for those lucky ones...
It's hard to fathom how these types of high stakes games are sustainable for professional poker players..

I think the reason that a lot of these big raked private games survive the rake is because the house-man (guy running the game) is often one of the more gambley recreational types, so the money stays "in play" as it were lol
I think the fact that the games don't run all that often makes them sustainable, the game I mentioned above 500/1k/2k featured a certain Andy Beal lol I think people just like to gamble it up a bit really

Dave fl just gave me a flashback. do you know much about the early days of limit poker back in the day. All the first millionaires on ladbrokes made it in limit poker and came from a town called Linkoping and when n/l took over it became known as AllinKoping.
True story this, last year was my first losing year in poker but I used to tell people about the pitfalls of poker and it not all being James bond types in tuxedos and how I lost a house due to playing poker. When I was doing the grind on laddies back in time I would go upto the betting shop on the high street to take out my weekly wage ( if I had one ) over the counter so as to avoid money going into my bank and avoid unwanted attention from the taxman ( very naive in those days ). At the time I lived in a beautiful village for 13 years with a girl who took two years of trying to get her to go out with me ( I had a bad reputation with the ladies in town because I was known as the fucking window cleaner and it was not because I did not get in the corners. I bought the window round so I needed an income and was a semi professional match angler at the time and needed something that let me go fishing whenever).
Anyway after a few months of going into laddies and chatting to the girls in there ( they could not believe I could go in a betting shop and never bet on a horse or dog and assumed I must be some big on line punter as I never deposited and just withdrew ) one of them got chatting about motorbikes. She told me her cousin had just had a vasectomy and it went wrong and had balls like water melons but was looking for someone to ride his Rizla Suzuki gsxr through the summer for him. I snapped up the offer but the downside was that I had to take her to Cadwell Park to watch the British Superbikes August bank holiday. Well one thing led to another as it does camping for the weekend and on the very first night of passion she gets pregnant (I wanted to call Alister James - Cadwell , like the beckhams with Brooklyn , but she insisted on him being named after our dads. Even today I call her Cadwell's mum and she is Cadwell on here). Obv She tells me at the next superbike meeting ( brands hatch I believe it was) she is up duff so I then have to go and tell my best mate of 13 years I have got someone preggy and we decide that night it's best I just leave as respect and trust is shot. I still love with my ex (i still love all my ex's bar one) but I just took my clothes and gave her everything else which included the house with no mortgage and moved on.
We have to play the hands we are dealt and now I have 3 beautiful boys who mean the world to me and a wife who I love to bits. Sorry to hijack your thread but one of em just woke and I can't get back to sleep after such an emotional tourney.
This is tldr but I just felt the need to jot it down somewhere

LOL I started on LHE too before NL was really commonplace for cash, it was all limit back in the day. Think the biggest game back then was 100/200 LHE, remember taking ages to build up a roll on the smaller limits and doing it all in the space of about 20 mins when I came in hammered one night, think about £12k if I recall correctly

Leaving your ex financially secure is very admirable.. When I got divorced I offered my ex wife an out of court deal, where she took all the property bar my fathers house and all the savings except for around 40k that I had in shares etc, she declined and said she wanted an equal split, to be fair.. When we got round to it she actually went back on her word and went for it all anyway, even my fathers house (which we owned at the time) took me many £££ and Months to get it all sorted..
On a brighter note I have a baby boy on the way this month... Sooo excited, can't believe how much my life has changed in the last 3 years...
