DTD £30 FO I'm UTG look down at Jacks, min raise, short stack MP shoves for a bowl, everyone else folds, I call.  He tables AK off, the flop comes 245 at which point the button pipes up and says obviously a 3 on the turn, sure enough the turn is a 3 river a brick

Villain scoops the pot but not before exclaiming "I hate jacks" .... Followed by the Button who replies "I f*cking hate jacks too"

Just had quite a good one.

Guy playing <10bbs has shoved two or three times in the past level.

Two guys down the other end of the table mutter their annoyance at this- "he's only got one move this kid".

I get that a lot (partly because I have < 10bb too often)

My favourite on that line is "He's only got one move: all in or fold"

That's two moves!!

OK. In the Friday 125 at Orleans. Blinds 50/100. Stacks all c.12.5k starting stack as level 1. Lady in 2nd posn (with wsop hat) makes it 350 utg+1. Two callers to me on button. I decide that 83 (soooooted) is the nuts and make it 825 to go. Lady calls. Flop KQ2r. She checks. I bet 900. She calls. Turn 6. She now leads for 700, which I make 2,100 and collect the pot.

She folds by tabling jacks, declaring "I should have just folded Pre-flop. There's no right way to play that hand".

I so so nearly showed mine with "There's no right way to play mine either"!

I just love how badly she played that. It's a mindset thing; that it's impossible to win with JJ. That's what really tickles me.

Like Cambridgealex, not a jacks story (although I did today hear someone say "even if you flop a set and the flop comes AKJ, you still can't be sure you're ahead") but too good not to share:

Orleans afternoon $75. Chap to my left is a man blessed with an imposing physical presence but a soft and engaging manner. We share stories on a friendly and chatty table and, after about an hour of repartée, chap delivers a bombshell:

Chap: "I hate aces"
Me (sympathetic but surprised): "They can be tough"
Chap: "Played the other day. Just before the final, two all-ins in front of me. I look down at aces. What do you do?"
Me (thinking let's keep this jovial so a bit of sarcasm): "Fold?"
Chap: "Exactly"
Me: "WHAT??!"
Chap: "I folded. One guy had queens and the other had 77."
Me (On the floor in the foetal position crying): "okay..."
Chap: "I know that, statistically, at least one of them will flop a set so I threw them away."
Me: "Oh on the flop?"
Chap: "No pre flop"
Me: "Oh." (I mean what else do you say to that?)
Chap: "And the flop came Q73, sure enough, and I would have come third"
Me: "Good read then. I'd better stay out of your way!"

If you can better that, good luck to you.

Guy in one of our local poker clubs folded AA pre-flop last year. He was BB for 1200 and had a big stack. Someone raised to 2800 and he folded face-up cos "the last 4 times I had them I lost".

Loving the thread.

ITM with 41 players left in a $235 Deepstack at the Rio at 16k/8k/2k, ave stack is 200k and I'm playing 220k.  Tight player opens UTG for 40k playing 240K, shorty reships for 90k and I look down at two smiling knaves.  The internal monologe went 'There's $22k up top and this field is beatable, but I have 14 bigs and Jacks.'  UTG had Queens.  Sigh.

I keep promising myself that I am going to open fold pocket Kings preflop as I keep losing with them.

However I am not strong enough and stupidly I continue to raise with them. Will I ever learn?

Vegas about 2 years ago in some crapshoot midday tournament.  5 players left.  4 places pay.

Guy shoves UTG with 8BBs.  Big blind calls out of 20 BB stack with T8 and loses.

Next hand I shove 10 BB with Ace rag.  BB from last hand is now in SB and puts his stack in with T8 again.

He comments "Well, statistically this cant' lose 2 hands in a row".  It doesn't.

Playing the 1/2 at the Empire a few years ago, the legend that is "Van" was also playing, knowing that he was trying to get over his Bingo reputation
I raised his BTN with  to 11
he obviously calls,
the flop came
I bet 22 he calls,
turn comes  three clubs I again bet £35,
he quickly calls (at this point I'm putting him on maybe QT)
river two hearts I bet £110 he ponders and open folds Pocket 7's for a set...

Says he was putting me on a straight... I quickly fold not telling him that there wasn't a straight on the board, but saying "Good Fold" at which point Andy Kyproinou says "There was no straight on the board you Mug" Van immediately turns to me and tells me he is raising every time I'm in a hand...

To be fair to Van he was a man of his word and did eventually bust me when I raised with KK he puts me all in for £400 with Q8 hits two pair and that's all she wrote...
