In readiness for todays hastily arranged & unscheduled Press Conference, perhaps?......

Ofc.  Is a funny one, talk of dressing room unrest....

The Times suggests that it may be about Strauss quitting.

They added "unwittingly, Strauss has become a large part of the Pietersen story". There's a thing.

I admire Andrew Strauss more than any other current sportsman I think.

Thoroughly thoughtful decent man, great cricketer and superb captain.

British sport will be poorer without him.

And a great diplomat, he has been forced to wear some very uncomfy shoes recently, but he has been very restrained & "correct", all things considered.

Despite Strauss' announcement, KP is still the story - it's a press conference, not a fan club meeting.

That's what the ECB would have wanted, let's forget all the fuss  - the journalists though have a duty to ask pertinent questions, such as what the effect of a falling out with the team's most high profile player may have had on Strauss' mindset and thought processes in the lead up to his announcement.

this would be the same media who will no doubt write tommorow about how honest and honourable strauss is/was as captain?

then go on to doubt everything he said today

Tikays tips have backed the S.A. win. Being patriotic I always want to see England win but people thinking that we have any chance of staying at number 1 without KP is having a laugh. Your KP's, Flintoff's, Botham's, Boycott's etc can win you matches single handedly. They just need to be managed in the right way

How do you manage someone who texts the opposition calling the coach a C&*%? Who texts the opposition bowler laughing about Strauss's technique outside the offstump? How do you manage a player who refuses to follow your own contract guidelines, you give him more time and he still cannot agree? He should piss off back to the IPL team, you know the only team who truly understands him?

Surprising how good people in the betting world are informed.

I think the some/majority of the changing room have issues with KP playing nevermind captaining the side. Look at what happened last time took him all of 6 months to fall out with someone that he had to stand down.

Strauss did an excellent job as captain of the side and this seems like a good spot to retire.

Someone on Sky went through KPs autobiography detailing his account of how he fell out with various people in cricket.

It took ages to document them all! (and was always the fault of the other guy obv!)

Who has had the biggest influence on England being such a success in recent times, coach , captain or KP? All I know (which as you know ain't much) is that we were number one for tests and dropped KP and lost the spot and the same in the one day series.

Edit. I'm just really trying for a bit of balance in the thread so it's not all hate for one guy and love for another.
