Hello Blondes!
For those of you that don't know me i am Callum Morgan. Currently resident in Nottingham and try to get down to dtd once or twice a week. Been playing poker for 3 years now. played for a living over over the summer of 2011 but the rest of the time i have been playing for entertainment, and trying to make some money on the side of university and my career which i have been placing as my number one priority.
I have had a previous staking thread here.
http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=58949.0which unfortunately we only made change out of the $400 package.
In the thread there is more information also about my history.
Over the past few months i have not been enjoying poker as much as i used to i put this down to;
Less time spent learning, less time for poker while not distracted by anything else, less live play, life stress! ( I was using poker to get away from life which is not ideal!), and finally and probably most importantly less winning!
A lot of these issues have now been rectified i have spent more time learning again i have more time for poker (1 job not 2! and no uni for a year!) and less stress!
So over the past week i have spent a bit of time reviewing where i win and lose in the poker world.(Looking at online only)
Losers...
Cash Poker ( I gamble far to much and have tended to go for big wins rather then sensible poker)
low $ long tournaments ( I often will reg up for a $10 tourney and then after 4 hours cash for $22 and only afterwords i think what was the point? I didn't enjoy the poker and i didn't make much of a profit)
high $ short tournaments ( These tournaments are a lot more of a gamble with higher variance and less skill involved (Short stack turbos $82 hypers etc.) i just don't have the role to sustain this!)
Omaha.. say no more!
Winners.
Turbo 9 man Sit and gos. ( I have played these in the past and made a steady profit at $5-$10 level on stars and other euro sites)
Long high $ tournaments. ( in the few i have played i believe i have done ok. I feel like i have played my best poker in the $100+ tournaments on stars with just not getting the run good at the right times)
and finally 3x turbos. Over the past few years i have played many of these as sats to larger tournaments (UKIT's SCOOP's Sunday Million Sunday 500 etc etc.) I have been very successful and until last week did not realize that this was probably my largest area for making a profit. I believe i have probably made ~ $2000 (from $0-$10 tournaments) - coming from 2 UKIPT seats (Nottingham this year and last) 2 SCOOP seats (one for $1000 one for $2000) 1 Sunday 500 seat and many Sunday million seats.
The ProposalMy proposal is a staking deal for these 3x turbo tournaments ( Mainly the $1-$2 ones) maybe take shots at up to max $5 - for the time being.
How much? Well i would say allocate 20 buy ins per comp ( on the high side) and 40 comps ( on the low side) at an average of $1.50 per buy in.
This means $1200.
(i am happy to change the amount and way this work to suit the backer)
The plan. I would aim to play tournaments which i can un register from. These generally are the ones with start times of 3 hours before the comps. If i do end up entering into the comp obviously this would get returned into the staking deal. But this is not the plan as say it was the sunday million $200 it is a massive chunk of the roll! Most of these comps will return 200* ish the initial buy in. but only say 10* the total buy in.
The deal. I would ideally like to sell 100% of myself and workout a deal after stake back for the split of the profits (to be negotiated). I am happy to put up to 50% in though myself if the backer/s are wanting that - this would obviously affect the profit share after stake back.
Feel free to ask questions via pm or in the thread and happy to chat through over skype also.
I understand the plan is a bit vague but that is to allow for variation in the amount in the deal and also how much % i have of myself will affect the profit share after stakeback!
The length of the deal.I would like to set a time limit on this. I was going to propose 60 days. With a review after say 15/30 and 45 days. Where we look into, the stakes and also if we are going to extend the term longer or not.
The BackerIt would be nice if the backer is someone who has experience in these games or similar and would like to talk strategy. I am always willing to learn new ideas and new game plans and i think this would aide both backer and myself.
How it will workI will ensure all money in my pokerstars account will be for this fund only. It can be difficult to track rebuys so this seems like the only way to do it for myself. I will then update the backer with a spreadsheet after each day/session/week - whatever is agreed on.
I would appreciate any comments and feedback thanks
Callum
