Starting to fancy Blackburn for the playoffs now. Quietly edging into contention under Appleton.
Called it, here we go!

There's been much grinding of the teeth about what Watford has been 'getting away with" in the FL .... I just wonder if anyone would have raised a murmur if they were sitting in 17th place, and not in 3rd?
Whether they could ban the practice, I don't know.
When the Fools Association tell all & sundry they can't do anything about the amount of foreigners in the PremShit, because of EEC Freedom of Labour movement laws - hence I'm sure they're totally liable to crush the ruse by a mere Football League club, in their role as the undisputed Kings of Hypocrisy!
Not cricket .... probably not - but it's hard to take seriously football governing bodies that allowed Argentinians (obv the Common Market has extended to South America) to be hired in @ West Ham/Liverpool (who weren't even registered with a club, but 'owned' by investors).
The Pozzos did the exact same thing - lending Udinese players - to get Grenada promoted to La Liga .... so not exactly a unique situation.
One of those "I wish we'd thought of that" situations, maybe?

Not so much "wish we'd thought of that" for clubs, merely the opportunity isn't open to any unless another foreign club owner wants to invest in a club outside the PL
To my mind the current situation has it both ways. Restrictions for UK loans, no restirctions for overseas club loans
If the league can't change the latter, open up the UK loan market and speak to Sir Alex each July about taking the Man U A team for a year, popping them into League 1 playing as Crewe Alexandra, get promoted and repeat as necessary....

Holloway has a point, albeit not best expressed straight after a game
The rest of the FL clubs are limited to 6 loans, only 5 of which can be in a matchday 18, and only two from the same club
Watford have 11 on loan currently, including 9 from Udinese and had 14 at one point including 10 from Udinese
I would imagine its a loophole that will be closed in subsequent seasons, in that if a change is proposed the majority of clubs not commonly in ownership with a Serie A side will vote against it!
This is not to criticise Watford, Pozzo, Zola etc, merely it makes a bit of a mockery of what the other clubs are subject to
Tighty - if this happens then the players will simply be moved to Watford for free. The Pozzo triumvate operate as one large team - I fully expect Hoban to move to Udinese for free when he reaches potential. Give and take is part of the deal.

Yup, I agree with you Rich (though I hope Watford get promotion - ship in the entire Udinese first team squad - and survive the first year in the Prembore).
However, the loans 'allowed' in this country unbalance The Championship already - if you're not 'in' with certain Prem managers (esp Fergie) your club is at a huge disadvantage.
In the past @ Watford we've had players likeTom Cleverly, Adam Johnson, Kightly etc on loan who contributed significantly to the season's points haul .... much to the detriment of the 'less fashionable' Championship clubs.
Was that fair?
Palace have sold Saha, but still retain his services until the end of the season - is that fair on Leicester/Hull/Watford/Boro?
Football's a strange 'business'!

This is all true
Pearson is in with Man U. We had Cleverly, currently have a really good young CB Michael Keane too, nicked Drinkwater off Barnsley when on loan there etc etc, signed James and De Laet from Man U in the summer etc etc
I don't have a problem with the Zaha loan back
As you say, chances of any division ever being a level playing field are remote!

The kid from Man U scored a belter against your lot yesterday Tighty.
Going to be a real battle at the bottom this, only Ipswich lost out of the bottom 10 yesterday.

Dung .... the Pozzos are businessmen.
If Watford get promoted to the richest footballing quagmire on the planet, Udinese will certainly become the Watford B side.
Serie A just hasn't got the financial clout of The Rupert Murdoch League of Shattered Dreams.
Money talks .....

Well yes - Hoban leaving would be assuming Watford don't go up.

It does make me chuckle.
Cardiff are £85 million in debt gambling on promotion and nobody bats an eyelid.
Hull and Leicester spend a combined £10 million on Brady, Meyler, Knockhaert and Woods and nobody cares.
Watford have 3 extra loan players and they are everything that is wrong with football according to the Daily Mail, Talksport and Ian Holloway.

Well Crewe could do this to get to Championship but would then be barred from competing in the same league as Man Utd. I assume Watford and Udinese would not be allowed to play in the Champs League at the same time.

2.6 is not right, for sure. It was under a million. Wood is 1m I assume add ons takes it up. If he achievesthe add ons I assume we'll have prem revenue. Ffp from next season is a big issue for clubs who do not make it up this year
