Ha, just happy I have at least one guy silly enough to have read all that! Smiley

I stopped after you started mentioning win the title.

I started searching for a phone number for the men in white coats. Smiley

Cheesy Last time I heard, it wasn't illegal. How boring it must be to be an outright realist, I keep that to my poker play, but my football, I enter the fanciful world of wishful thinking and hope.

Much like the main character in Shawshank Redemption, you cannot give up hope, because it can happen!

PM me if you want any forthright insight into Palace bets btw.

Been there, done it, Ant, most of us have.

The vehicle for my dreams, and RTG, was Brentford FC.

Go figure.

But when reality comes to us, it aint so bad, life still looks good. Boring? Not a bit, quite the contrary to see things more clearly.

I explained myself wrongly. I linked realism to pessimism, but you can obv be optimistic and appreciative within the bounds before you, as was the protagonist in Shawshank Redemption, ha.

Deep stuff here.

Oddly enough, I didn't even know you were a Brentford fan and was about to ask! And also why are you using the past tense with the Brentford appreciation?

I prefer to be a pessimist, then days like:

Man Utd 1-4 QPR
QPR 6-0 Chelsea
Liverpool 0-2 QPR

are all the sweeter.

I admire optimists, but pessimism works best for me.

Expect the worst and you'll never feel let down.

In poker I am much like you have described there. Never getting over the top with minor wins or even relatively big wins, so that when the inevitable losses come in it isn't so bad. Generally setting up my stool to be fine with losing, but obv doing my best to avoid it.

But then you can lose your shit and go bat shit occasionally when you get that 5 figure score and you are right. It has only happened to me twice, but it does feel sweeter. Not even trying to be thin there, but just explaining i have the exact same attitude with poker and admire too that approach, but I think with football, it just isn't necessary.

But on reflection now I have just realised you punt a serious amount of money on sports. Even though you may not bet on QPR, it must seep over, so you should have that attitude, but it is a shame, perhaps, you can't treat it less seriously, as you may with some other aspects of your life that you can, just enjoy it for the pure awesomeness it can provide.

It's long time since QPR were awesome.

I hope for the best, I just don't expect it.

Ah, didn't you think you were great on your promotion year?

I know what you mean though. I only started getting noisy this season about Palace, when Zaha and Bolassie decided to bring sexy football to Selhurst.

Definitely not great that year.

Taarabt was pretty good, but the amount of lucky wins and scraped draws were incredible.

The Venables teams of the early 80s. Now they were awesome.

Les Ferdinand. Awesome.

Roy Wegerle. Awesome.

This goal:

Awesomest.
