Well......where do I start?
Middlesbrough have ballsed up again and for once this season we are in form now that we have got out Billy back. I have a feeling we can sneak 6th at their expense.
Gap now down to 4 pts, and you just know that there is always 1 team that comes from nowhere each season.
1 time!
Good luck with that. Boro not in play offs and we have a game in hand and a better gd

Catching Middlesbrough doesn't mean you'll finish in the top 6.

First time Forest won two league games on the trot this season, but still long way from promotion material imho.Fingers crossed we can get something at Hillsborough next week

It is a long shot, nothing like a bit of optimism when things go your way.
Just got to keep winning obv, but we have still got to play Brighton, Hull, Boro, and Leicester.

I listened to the commentary, as the (illegal) live feeds kept freezing up on me and it sounded like a bizarre, if highly entertaining, game. The difference being that City were clinical in front of goal while your keeper seemed to make a lot of saves (which seems odd to say given that it took two late goals to bring it back from 5-1 to 5-3).
Stats show City with 12 shots on target, and 4 off target, Barnsley with 14 on target and 7 off target, so appears to back this up but it was a game which we never had a chance of winning, given the hole we dug ourselves into.
Stead ran us ragged, that's for sure. Flicker abandoned 3-5-2 just before half time and took off Foster, who'd already been booked by then, then it sounds like he switched to 4-2-4 for a bit in the 2nd half.
Given our recent run, I've had a feeling for a while that this game would be the letdown, and so it proved. The litmus test is how we deal with this against Bolton next week, who had an impressive win themselves today.
So many twists and turns still to come in this relegation battle.

Hudders home next. Can't c palarse beating derby. When did palarse last win away?!
Fwiw we have battered most teams at home and not won. Didnt batter hull or burnley and won both!
Until we scored it was embarrassing for them, all over them like a rash. Lopez and Bridge were unbelievable and Vicente was playing in a different league imo
Only thing that topped it was all the boys coming down to the rendezvous after and having a good old punt, not to happy about Lopez screwing me in the £40 fo

First half they probably deserved to be 1-0 going into it even though they just couldn't convert a couple of chances they had. They came out of the blocks very well with a lot of closing down and their defence very solid, was very hard to do anything.
Second half they tired and we were on top for the first 30 mins, but we really didn't have our shooting boots on. We had no-one prepared to take a shot from outside the box and always opting for the tougher slip in through ball. Kirkland was relatively unworked all match even thought for a large portion of the game we were on top.
Their defence throughout was excellent, however we made them to look this, as they defended so deep we couldn't get in behind but that means you need to hit the wings and ping crosses in or you take long range shots but we did neither enough.
On the whole the fair result probably would have been the draw, but we let our foot off the gas here and in no way did we deserve a win. We missed Zaha, but I think this is a learning curve to make sure that if our main tactics aren't working we need to be prepared to ping some shots in from range. Would mean they would close down more and play a little higher, thus making it easier to slip balls in behind!
O well, I don't know how we are going to play away to Derby, but I am keen to go to that myself too, hopefully get this show back on the road.
Fair play to Sheff Weds btw, they hassled very well and I thought they would be much more of a pushover than they were, was pretty impressed.

Another win for us against Palace would have said a draw was a fair result, but happy with win for sure.
We face a tough time in the next few games though, with games against Forest, Leicester & Cardiff.
Although recently I have started to question Mandaric at the club.
He hasn't invested as I thought he would in the club at Championship level and some of the goings on at the club have been questionable. At the start of the season we didn't sign enough quality within the season and it was more quantity, this is perhaps his 'style'. However in the season we have added quality, so begins to question why we was unable to do it earlier in the season. Wickham and Lita are very good signings at this level, but on loan.
It seems he is being really tight with the money compared to previous spells with previous clubs, along with not a lot of quality in the season, we had opportunities in the season to sign some decent players and failed, whilst we could have probably bought one of a handful of players that Birmingham needed to sell to raise funds.
I think he wants out, but I don't think many people want in, as investment is really needed for more quality than quantity.

Derby tickets bought for Friday night.
They re arranged the fixture and completely mugged off our away support in the progress as we cannot get a direct train back to London after the game ends from Derby station.
Going up by car instead. There will be four of us. I now am much less optimistic of automatic promotion and completely downbeat about Brighton's progress, not so much because they are our rivals but I am being made to look like a mug in the bet with Camel.
