Would say the thing that impressed me about Hull when we played them recently, was how well they were set up defensively, which really gave us trouble to penetrate them with much ease.
Yeah, they set up good defence didn't they? You only knocked four past them.
Palace 4-2 hull
Knew people would think that, and a lot of Palace fans thought the same when I said the same thing. But you take away our dodgy penalty, and the break we had to make it two nil very early doors in the second half, they were set up well.
We got lucky as i said to break the goal barrier and then Phillips as decisivie as he was took his first open play chance, and then you are right that they fell to pieces a little. But you would two goals down and trying to chase a game.
Saw about 10 mins of the second half of that Hull game yesterday and caught their goal. Such a depressing watch to see Burnley's defence not try to hassle down the guy who laid Quinn up for his shot, had way too much time and I could see it happening. Outrageous, bit of defending, but I also saw after the game that Burnley had a few chances to draw so Hull must have been riding their luck.
The Championship is such a great league isn't it? The unpredictability makes it for me.
This thread has also had some great debate too. No plastic fans here.
Putting loyalties aside, who is going to get that 2nd spot?
Too tough to call I think.
Obv everything I say is tainted with my alliance to Palace, so that is a self knowing disclaimer right from the bat.
I think Cardiff have a decent chance not being in the top two, after basically losing way too many games in their run in now. They do have 2 games in hand and are 5 points clear of third but I just sense it is going to happen.
But lets just say Cardiff have the top spot sewn to make things easier.
I think Watford are the most likely, then Palace, then Hull. All I have to go off, is my limited knowledge of the other two teams, but just have the feeling when Watford actually put out their best 11, of the ones that are available to play, they are the best side in the league.
I think when Palace have their best eleven out, which hasn't happened in a while now, we are the second best. We have been affected in our last game heavily by having a midfielder at right back and Gabiddon and Garvan out injured. With our right back becoming available and the KG Jedinak partnership happening again, we probably just need to start Williams ahead of Dobbie, and have both Bolasie and Zaha on the wings with Murray up front by himself. Then change things in the second half with Phillips and Dobbie coming on. Dobbie isn't as effective as Williams currently and comes across as quite a lazy player, but a heavily effective one when he rears his head!
Williams on the other hand has proved himself, in the last two games that he could be one of the best midfielders playing in this country, eventually. I still think he is a teenager, he still has to improve on his strength as he is so small, but he puts himself about regardless. The rate of which he has improved this season is much like how Zaha improved from last. I was raving that about Zaha at the beginning of this season and he was snapped up by Man U, I am very soon, but not quite yet, going to put my bollocks on the line about Williams following a similar route, but I need probably until the rest of this season. But it's ridiculous how well he is playing at the moment but as he is injury prone, I hope he stays fit and can continue to show how devastating he can be. There has actually been murmurings David Platt has been to a few of our games and Man City are interested in poaching him, but I am not quite sure.
Of Hull I see a very astute defensive side that doesn't really play expansive football but are a great solid unit together, normally. They obviously don't turn up to the races on occasion as was seen in most of the second half against us and away to Bolton, but they will trudge away and won't ease off.
So think Watford will be above Palace and Palace above Hull and have a feeling Cardiff will be second.
