Yeah best game of the tournament by a mile. When you average 103, hit 9 180s and checkout over 50% you're gonna give anyone a proper game!!!
Most impressive thing for me was he held his nerve at the end, so many guys that are 8-16 in the world choke these spots against Garry, PW, MVG etc the ones that can hold there nerve there go on to do good things!
The rankings are so brutal....
If Phil beats Barney and loses to MVG then he'll miss out on the #8 spot in the world by £1k, he'll actually stay in 11th by £500!
If Gurney beats Mensur and loses in the semi he'll jump to #12 by £250, not bad considering he wasn't even seeded for this tournament! if he comes runner up, he'll miss out on the top 8 and the Champions League by £1000 as well!
Just go to show how crucial grinding the tour is, if Phil had turned up to 1 pro tour weekend and made 1 quarter final!

Beating Wright and Anderson back to back last week have clearly given him the confidence to make the step up. He looks a lock for PL unless his form really fails off. Also strikes me as the type of character who won't be phased by it.
There's even more value grinding the tour now that MVG who used to be ever present picks and chooses his events.

Yeh, great weekend, then an abs bloodbath since monday. Rob Cross averaged 103 and 56% doubles vs a guy in horrible form who just had back surgery... |

My friend and I book a priority pass between us each year. It's about £50 but gets us first choice to purchase tickets for all the majors and access to all the tour events that are streamed ( more punting).
It's pretty expensive but as a huge fan that enjoys the live experience it's worth it to us to flick in a pony each.
