The title pretty much says it all..

Im looking for suggestions/ ideas for places to stay or crash over when in the big city, that doesn't involve me checking in, sleeping for a few hours and wasting the included breakfast or spare bed etc over a couple of days...

Previously I've stayed in my car (too cold), a nice hotel £90+/night, and a cheaper hotel £60ish inc breaky...

Im not sure I love the idea of hostels when its so cold atm, but I also dont want to spending the earth on a hotel room. I just want to be able to get to the Vic, Empire, Hippo, and potentially the palm without a 2 hour drive home up the M1.

Help?

He served at tennis, according to his diary. Does that count?

London needs some Tokyo style capsule hotels imo, its just too expensive in the centre when you just want a bed.

Found this place in the planning the other week when doing a random search could be good it they keep it below 50 quid a night.

Dunno if this helps but I spoke to vic staff on twitter and they said try hotels/B&Bs along 'Sussex Gardens'. There's also a new 'Tune Hotel' that's close to Paddington.

Didn't end up going but you're more than welcome to check them out.

Yeah plenty of B+B's on sussex gardens for around 50ish I often stay in those if I'm on my own dime. They are pretty basic, but if you just need a bed they are ok.

If you stay in Sussex Gardens make sure you check out the reviews first as a couple of them are pretty ropey. I would also recommend using the name your own price thing on priceline which has always served me well.  Massive +1 to Woodseys comment about the capsule hotels.  I often use the one at Gatwick and Heathrow if I need some kip after an overnight flight and they fit the bill perfectly and are fairly good value.

Stands for victory services club, for forces persons and their families. Also good for sharing they have some big rooms with 3 single beds for example. But if prev posts are correct you may not be eligible!

As said, there's lots of cheapish hotels near The Vic.
I would use :

http://www.trivago.co.uk/   .... search London....then narrow it down to Hyde Park/within a mile.

Also

http://www.laterooms.com/  .....searching The Vic postcode W2 2DT

Ok ish hotels for £45/50.......if you dont go down the hostel route.

My mate uses name your price site and he gets some right proper decent deals in 4/5 * hotels and pays less than £90 because that's what he puts as max spend when doing the search.
