Some bright spark decided RobYong was a good alias to use. Ipoker made them change it.
Happy to refund you or anyone that has an issue with this.
Dunk - i think that's a little harsh on Nicola, she's put 18 hours in a day for the last week dealing with phone calls and emails and posts from players.
Cheers Rob
Rob,
Can I start by saying that DTD deserves every commendation it gets. It is an innovative, constantly evolving business which continues to lead its market in every facet. However, last night, there were clearly some issues which had an effect on some player's viewpoints, and I hope you don't mind me putting my thoughts across on this thread, which will attempt to summarise what I believe to be the major issue.
I think the main issue is not with the guy who got his nickname changed. To be honest, I can understand iPoker asking for it to be changed.
I think the main issue stems from the problem in the lobby, which for first time users of iPoker (myself included) was incredibly frustrating. The whole point of signing up for a lot of people was to try and win a seat through one of these fantastic satellites. The software is clearly superior to Boss, and the game itself was enjoyable for quite a while.
The issues arose when we were supposedly down to about 70 left, which is in fact 60 left. I myself for example had a couple of spots where I put a much higher percentage of my chips at risk than I would have with only 10 players left to get knocked out, as I would have known I could fold into the money. As a result, by the time I realised there was in fact on 7 people to go, not 17, I was in a position where I couldn't fold my way home, and had to try and get lucky. I failed and busted in 54th.
This isn't a bad beat story, those hands could have played out another way and I could still go out early, but I do not think I am overexaggerating in saying this; if I had been aware that less players were in fact still in the tournament, I would have had a significantly higher chance of winning a seat into what is clearly the best comp at this buyin level in the UK.
I agree that anyone demanding answers from Nicola is being a tad unfair as she has been working incredibly hard on this, as shown by this thread, and she always replies to any question, however simple they may seem.
I would be interested to know DTD's take on the issues that are clearly there to see with iPoker's lobby, whether from yourself or Nicola or another of your excellent team.
I hope DTD continues to go from strength to strength. I love playing there, and I will be supporting this comp at the weekend regardless.
Cheers,
Ruud
