Yes I would have loved to play the EPT Main and I could obv flick it in and it wouldn't kill me either.

BUT I realise just how much £5300 is and I don't think I could play that kind of event in that way I would want too, even if I sold a large piece, it still wouldn't sit right with me either.  Also it's the kind of event where you can just get utter death tables too and there will be a fair few draws out there where I wouldn't be plus EV.

The one event that is the exception is ofc the WSOP ME but that is such a unique event that it can't be missed.

£5300 is just massive for a one poker tournie when there is so much value around. That's the WPT, Irish Open and DTD Monte Carlo plus some change left over to cover expenses and I think choosing those kind of events over the EPT is the smart move and I wouldn't be a professional if I didn't think that way.

I'm not someone who's ever been to being staked for things massively, outside the main and selling Vegas packages, where I think everyone in poker has to adapt a bit because if the sums involved.

Usually if i sell it's between 0-25pc for stuff and it's a way of playing the game that sits right with me.

It's annoying to min cash in a tournie like the UKIPT but after the dust settled all I did was play some cards for a couple if days and made £1500. In the real world that's something to be happy with. Oh and another flag! It's also unusual for me to flop such good equity and NOT get there lol

Can still bink something online In the next 30 hours that can cover it haha!

Superb attitude, Ryan.

As I said, feet on the ground.

You have plenty of time and a long road to travel, a good life playing poker lies ahead if you keep that discipline.

£5250 though.

Agree with that post somewhat but the experience of playing these slightly tougher big field higher buy in events is worth something imo and you could be playing it with 25% of your action for the same price. You will learn something on a sick table and possibly crush and go deep on an easy table!

Many many years ago I was stood in a casino somewhere (this is prolly 10 or so years ago) and everyone was stood around talking about a £1k event coming up and how there were going to have to sell a kidney to get in it.  (Back then, there was nothing that big on a regular basis, live or online) Then pretty much one by one, they all acknowledged that if they were to play it and win, they would just about be out of it.

As they were stronger players than me, and as I was currently 0 from 0 in £1k events, I figured I could do better than them by simply not playing them and always being out of it.

Obviously if you have major skillz and the bankroll, you should be playing them.  If you don't have the skillz (me) or the bankroll (me) then the smart thing to do was not play.  Pretty sure 10 years later, most people that were in on that convo would agree....
