Best way to get to London casinos?
«

So, I was thinking about dragging my arse off of the sofa and maybe having a night out in the smoke playing a little £1/£2 NLHE cash or £1/£1 PLO. Reading the various threads, the Hippodrome and Aspers seem to get mentioned regularly, so my question is in two parts;
1. Are the above mentioned places recommended for games and rake costs and,
2. Coming into London via the M3, how would
you
travel in. I'm happy enough driving in but I don't know what the parking is like near to those casinos. Other times I have left the motor at Chiswick and tubed in but the NCP at Chiswick is bleed-you-dry expensive, so I need options that are cost effective but manageable given that you may be leaving for home at stupid o'clock. Plus there's the congestion charge to factor in I imagine...
Thank you in advance.

Aspers stratford
£5 parking per 24 hours (westfield shopping centre) and outside congestion zone
hugely busy at all cash game leves from £1-1 up (26 tables in use last night, 7-9 on the go 24 hours)
m25 round and m11, a118 in.... if you avoid rush hour from chiswick, on the m25 at heathrow its about an hour door to door I would think

If you go to the Vic, it's free parking (well, it always was and I assume it hasn't changed?).

Hour from the M25/M3 junction? And better than going through Hammersmith etc on A4/A40?

Went there years back and parked sidestreet after 6.30 pm (because the undergound car park was already full).
Everyone seems to say the place is full of misery guts types...

I agree
Hippodrome or the Empire seem to be the choice of many on here for central London.

hour or so
pick the route you think will have less traffic, generally that's not through town...

impressive place though, can't speak for the games themselves apart from there being loads of them!

Agreed, although the M25 can be a car park akin to the stop start of the central route.

Found this on
http://www.londonpokerguide.com/locations/view/201
Cash games
Cash games run 24/7 pretty much, with 2-3 tables running at quiet times and up to 13 at peak times (evenings and weekends). NL Holdem £1-£1 games are the most common – min £25 sitdown, max 250 (or 50% of the big stack at the table). They regularly have £1-£2 games as well. When there's demand they may have a 2-5 game, or sometimes 1-1 or 1-2 Omaha games.
Rake is 10% up to £5 on the 1-1 game, and 5% up to £10 on the 1-2 game.
But the reviews (bar one) are all pretty horrible. Dated last year though...

I wondered about this, as their website suggests this 'offer' ends March 30th and doesn't mention what it will be thereafter?

Stratford has a PRK live thing on this weekend so if you are thinking of coming then, the games will be bigger and looser id assume

The one downside when I was there was it was fairly tough to get a drink/food (I was there for betfair live). The whole place was very busy and the poker room was full with lots of cash tables running.
The Holiday Inn there isn't bad, I had views over the olympic park. Lots of shopping and places to eat if you want to make a trip of it.
