Event #54: No-Limit Hold'em

    Buy-in: $1,000
    Prizepool: $2,594,700
    Entries: 2,883
    Remaining: 315

Sam Grafton is currently shown 14/315 and is the top Brit in the counts

fter 11 full levels of exciting No-Limit action, an enormous field of 2,883 runners has been whittled down to just 239, with yet another tournament reaching the payout phase during the first day of play. Along the way, a number of notables and professional players came and went, while a few unique names surged to the top of the chip counts.

The day saw several professionals try to navigate the minefield known as Day 1 of these low buy-in events, with Olivier Busquet, Athanasios Polychronopoulos, Victor Ramdin, Tony Dunst, Matt Stout, Randy Lew, and Bryan Micon just a few of the pros to go busto before the money bubble burst.

Barry Hunter emerged as the overwhelming chip leader by the time bags were tagged, after amassing a stack of 211,000 to end the night. Hunter will be joined by the regally named Marcus Aurelius (150,800), and Warwick Mirzikinian (111,700) as the only players to top the 100k mark, while last year's Main Event runner-up Jesse James Sylvia (83,000) is threatening with a late charge at the end of the night.

It is mixed games, so guess it is safe to assume he isn't that great at most of them.

This was his SIXTH cash of this Series, what a great run that is, & well done him. 3 of them in NLH, 2 in Omaha 8 or Better, 1 in Razz.

The only other stat which surprises as much is the 10 Bracelets for Canada.

Ahh yes, I suppose that could be the case. I had assumed "Canada" was Nationality (as reported?) rather than location or residence.

Was going to say that about Stephen Chidwick.  He seems to just go deep in a couple of events every year and even more so this year.

6 cashes so far this year, 5 last year, 4 in 2011 & 3 in his first year here, 2010.

Must be quite a talent.

Does anyone here know much about him?

Much like Matthew Ashton in the mixed games, seems to fly under the radar, gets it quietly, very professional, low profile etc etc

Used to be very highly ranked on pocket , think he plays high up at cash too.  Is a bit of an online legend.

Very interesting interview, the lad seems to have his feet on the floor.

Apart from winning 101 (ONE HUNDRED AND ONE) WSOP Main Event Seats one year (WHAT, can that be true, that is a MILLION dollars worth!?) I really liked this - every word of it.....

I really just want to have a well-rounded life. I’d like to branch out away from poker.

There are a few business ideas that I’m developing and I want to make sure I’ve got a healthy social life and that I spend a lot of time with friends and family.

Mainly I just want to be happy you know? And when I was obsessed with poker nothing else really mattered to me, and it wasn’t very conducive to living a happy lifestyle.

When everything’s focused 100% on poker it’s very stressful, and it’s just crushing when you lose. And as a poker player you’re going to lose a lot of the time

stevie is a hs mtt/hs cash and mix player. Plays very well at all the games and from what I know doesn't spend much time in the UK so you won't see him around the UK tour.

Matthew Ashton is MUSTAFABET online or something similar who you will see in nosebleed games online
