Sad times for some Championship clubs. Not others. For a club like mine that chronically overspent and has been badly managed for a long time, thats fair enough

On a medium term perspective, it should make the division even more competitive, and give reasonable spenders a real chance

What remains unfortunate is that Premiership parachute payments articifically inflate revenue once they enter the Championship and give them a real competitive advantage until those payments stop

Any chance Brighton could take Konchesky today please? Pretty please? Been on the cards for a fortnight, and would like his wage bill off our books please!

"This is why, for example, spending on Academies is added to revenue for FFP calculations and not added to cost."

Ah okay - the rules make more sense now.  Your post read as if Academy expenditure is actually added to revenue as a sweetner!  It seems the expenditure is just exluded from costs which seems sensible.

Yes - I agree the FFP means that parachute payments are an even bigger advantage than they already are.

I hate the concept of FFP.  If a team wants to take a punt with a rich owner then let them get on with it.   Watford have rarely been the big spenders, but I don't have a problem if Leicester want to give the dice a spin and chase the dream.

This won't happen, Ward looks pretty good, and Chicksen another signing has returned from injury Smiley

Our losses are basically our new training ground being built...

I fear for Wednesday this season given the pre season lack of transfer activity, the start to the season and the lack of transfers in the window.

Seems Mandaric is looking to put in as little as possible and maintain Championship survival whilst looking for a buyer.

We have lost Buxton at right back and Gardner at centre half to injury. I saw Gardner in Genting on monday night and he has a leg brace on, looks like he's out until Christmas if not longer to me.They were 2 solid defenders last season. We have Martin Taylor and Miguel Llera as centre half cover. Taylor has had a nightmare with us and been very poor. Llera is 100% committed but prone to one bad error per game. Whoever replaces Gardner will be paired with Zayette who is decent on the floor but cant win a header.

The fan base is suicidal currently. We desperately need a beast in midfield and a centre forward to have a chance of competing. Without them I can only see another awful relegation scrap.

The only possible light may be loan signings from Premiership clubs which can be agreed from next weekend I think. Last year we survived because we had the likes of Lita, Wickham, Barkley on loan who added some quality.

God it's awful. It's like watching a car crash happening in slow motion in front of your eyes :-(

Palace have a lot of players available for loan if your interested. You have missed out on Ramage though, he's suring up Barnsley's defence.

Looks like Grandin, Dobbie and Phillips won't make our 25 man squad. Snap em up.

Also Wilbraham.

0 goals in 24 games?

Phillips would be an AWESOME signing for anyone's bench in the championship. He turned us down 2 years ago though.

Ossuana today have approach us to speak with our new manager. We have instantly declined.

Hows Matlock? Was incredibly good for us but heard he is useless for you?? Perhaps as he has permanent deal i guess.

Surely the Brighton gig is more attractive than Osasuna unless he is homesick?

Indeed, this will tell if he is 1) homesick 2) not been given the money to spend he was promised

He is very highly rated in Spain, and Barca want him as a future manager.......(I haven't seen anything yet to suggest why this is)

lol, only after comments made on here about Brighton turning them down when approached. That has gotta hurt.

Welcome back to the thread Ant!  It felt 'different' without you!

The Ramage signing was very hush hush.  Normally, we get an inkling of who's on the way in, but this one was off the radar until our CEO announced on live Radio that someone was potentially coming in.

Great signing I think, although I'm perturbed to hear the club say he's a replacement for Scott Golbourne, who was being played as a left wing-back.  Surely he has to be played at CB, or a conventional left-back if necessary.
