Hi all.....

Had a horrible task of clearing my granddads house ...he has moved into a home and it has to be emptied & sold to pay for it ):

We came across a load of old records

Does anyone know if they are worth anything I mean certain artists or age or brand ?

We know absolutely nothing and don't want to just throw them away !

my dads a record collector, he says 99% are worthless.

Record collector is a annual book that pretty much can price up any vinyl for you, maybe there is online version but unless its rare they worth nowt.

If you give me some of the artists names i can tell you straight  away.

Short answer is most are worthless and some are worth a fortune.

Contact a record shop if you want rid. Some still exist. Reddington Rare Records used to be the best known one in Birmingham. Still has a website:

http://www.reddingtonsrarerecords.co.uk/

Might give you an idea for some of the rarer ones.

A bloke I used to work with collects/buys/sells records.

He gets a lot of his from auction, and has said in the past that he often gets lots that contain a 100+ records for one particular one that is worth hundreds.

Have a look at a few titles on ebay, see what is going for plenty and see if you have any.

Take em to the local auction house, better than throwing them away. If there is anything good in the collection the buyers will be bidding

Yeah... Smiley

It's a well known place in Brummie quarters, anyway. Could hardly get a more trustworthy and established brand.
