Sorry to be harsh here but this is a very poorly played hand by you.

The preflop action is fine 3 bet to try to eliminate the limper. On the flop I would lead but after a bet and a raise you have to be pretty optimistic to think KK is good here, also the chance you will remain ahead are less than 50% if you do in fact have the best hand on the flop. I hate the cap on the flop. The idea of limit is to minimize your losses when you are behind. On the turn this is a safe card IF you were ahead on the flop which against 2 players is debateable. Notice the guy who wins the pot is very passive preflop then springs into life on the flop and turn, to me this is the sign of a big hand. Once you are raised on the turn this is an easy fold in my opinion. The river play is atrocious as the whole hand the guy with Q3c is telling you what he has and to bet and call a raise is basically throwing money away.

To put this hand in monetary terms I think I lose $25 with this hand and on a bad day I lose $35 (2.5bb and 3.5bb). You lost $80 (8bb) on this hand and over the course of a session these bets you save add up. I play on tribeca also and the standard is dreadful, a lot of players are very loose  so sometimes just call them down if you are not sure :

1) They will carry on bluffing so you gain extra bet
2) If you are beaten you save extra bets by playing more passively.

Learn from this hand though and it will make you a better player

I like both responses. My play (river especially) sucked and I should stop doing this at 3am.

While on the subject, do either of you have any particular advice as to learning further about short-handed limit? I have been putting in countless hours lately to try and learn the game through experience (actually my main objective was to clear VC's new year re-deposit bonus quickly but that with completed I found I actually enjoyed it a lot). I usually play $3/$6 but like to jump up to the $5/$10 to see how I fare there after a good session lower down.

Obviously however there are a fair few hands like this when I am probably taking a fundamentally wrong approach.

I enjoy an aggressive style at present which tends to accumulate either large wins or sizable losses on a session-per-session basis.
