Looking at the chip counts it seems Maurice Samuels has made a huge comeback since getting crippled by Jamie. Any details on how he did this? Chipping up slowly, or did he win a big'un?

I will ask Jamie who is to his left

Lost a big pot to Jamie, then next time I went past had added two stacks of blues again so I would say a big un.

Well ask Maurice himself. He's a really nice guy. Tell him I'm asking after him.  Total legend. He made a sick £1,000 bluff vs me at padooki last week.

"Maurice, Stuart is asking after you. How are you getting on?"

blank look

"Stuart, the padooki bluff?"

A broad grin stretches across his face, his mood at once lightened

"Well I am getting nuffin', but I am still in, got a chance"

"You had a big hand just after the break?"

"getting nuffin'"

and with that he turned away, small talk over for now

(I tried)

--

As I prepare to waddle elsewhere

Boba Fett and Jamie Sykes play a pot that sees Boba check raise from the small blind on a Q-8-4 flop and Sykes folds

Sykes c 250,000 and Boba just under 200,000 with just over 40 left

from Nick with permission, while I was writing

7.50pm: Eames makes quads
John Eames just took a big pot from Ben Spraggons to climb to around 350,000. I only saw the river action but with a full board of Q♥8♥Q♠6♦Q♥ on the felt Eames (small blind) bet 34,000 into a pot of around 85,000. Spraggons (button) tanked for a while before calling, Eames showed K♠Q♦ for quads and Spraggons mucked.

Meanwhile Tim Wong is the probable chip leader as he's up to 510,000. -- NW

This is secondhand from Ben Mayhew....trying to be in several places at once, the Stars updaters and I, so grateful to any player info to piece occasional hands together

Tim Wong is a 725,000 chip leader

He knocked out Richard Kellett to get there

Wong called flop turn and river shove with 7-7 on 8-6-2-3-Q and was good against A-3

8.25pm: More big pots with Petersen
Mickey Petersen is seemingly involved in a big pot every single hand. First he knocked out Jack Ellwood, the latter all-in pre for 70,000 with Q J  and up against Petersen's pocket threes. A jack on the flop gave Ellwood the lead but a three on the river boosted Petersen to 375,000.

Then he opened to 10,000 under-the-gun, Sergio Aido three-bet to 27,000 from the big blind, Petersen four-bet, I know not how much because before I could count it Aido had moved all-in and Petersen had called. Aido was all-in for 228,000.

Aido: A♣K♥
Petersen: A♥Q♦

The 9♦3♠6♠8♣7♣ board doubled Aido to 460,000 and dropped Petersen to 140,000. -- NW
