I was waiting for an online multi to start at 8pm, the next thing I knew it was 11.30pm. I had fallen asleep in my chair. Good job I hadnt pre regesterd

It got me thinking though, Ive always been a funny sleeper, even before poker I was a night owl, always up until about 1 or 2am. These days my average bed  time is around 3am and I get up about 9am, so I manage fine on about 6 hours

About once a fortnight though I go into "must sleep now" mode. usualy around 9pm, and I sleep for 12 hours or so, sort of topping the tanks up.

Is this common to other poker players, or do you all have different methods of coping with sleep depravation?

Hi Tom
I certainly recognise the "must sleep now" phase-- I too can happily play several tourneys night after night and then "need" a 12 hour stint.
I seriously find a good vitamin supplement helps a lot too..

One other thing-- keep off the red bull!... One is fine but after 3 I cannot sleep for a day--

Interesting post --

This is how I cope Tom. By the way, this was taken during a 10,000 chip 1 hour jobbie - thought I'd get busy (by my standards) early. This will be me in the Crypto blonde jobbie too.

I find I need less sleep as I get older, but I do recognise Red-dogs sentiments about a need for a regular top up

I play live 4 nights out of 7, hopefully til 1-2am at the earliest( Smiley and get up at 6.30am to get to work for 7.45am

Leave work at 5.30, home for 6.30, gym for an hour, change and off to play

but one of the nights I am not playing I catch up big time!

I do occasionally get concerned about burning the candles at both ends, but I live and breathe my job and live and breathe my poker...I'll keep it going until I'm burnt out or skint or both!

I'm curious as to how you would manage in Nottingham Tightend.

More often than not the tourneys go to a chip-count at around 5am.

I'm sure that would pose a problem.

I'd have to play less. By the way, I will be buying a property in the East Midlands soon as I need a base there for family reasons. Anticipate playing in Notts thereafter some of the time (but only after the heads Up challenge!!)

HEHEHE

Seriously tho. Depends upon what im up to but.......... i usually get home around 3.45 am from work, then play online for anything up to 2 hours. Usually up between 10-12. Cept for 2 days where i get to sleep soundly till whenever I want. And 2 Days where I have to get up at 7.30am. Kids, Who'd have em.
