I would suggest we may not be dealing with a mastermind and that not a lot of thinking went on during that hand. Having said that, the guy with AT played it far worse, his jam there is an absolute crime.

Just shows, that pressure does strange things to our minds.
I doubt any of them are idiots, it was just brain-fart over brain-fart.
Mock not, most of us have done dumber things.
Certainly the only time I recall seeing a 4 way all-in (deal situations excepted) to end a Tourney.
The poor lad with the Eights, his head was completely frazzled, he did not know what day it was.

Before the start of the hand:
Notkin 40BB
Jacques 36BB
Rivers 6BB
Miller 4BB
Perhaps he was thinking that it is unlikely that Notkin would call, after all an initial raise from the big stack four handed doesn't really mean that he has to have KK.
If Notkin doesn't call, then Miller (the guy wth the 4BB stack) will pretty much triple up if he wins the hand (if Rivers with 88 doesn't call) and Jacques (the guy in 2nd place) is barely dented. Mr. Rivers (with 5BB left against Miller's 11BB) must be pretty short odds to finish 4th in this scenario.
If Rivers calls and Jacques (or Notkin if he makes the call) wins the hand then Rivers still comes third as he had a bigger stack than Miller going into the hand.
If Rivers wins the hand (which he might have OK equity for if they both have big aces) then obviously everything is rosy.
Is it really so bad a decision after playing for ages?
Having said all that, I fold.

But there's no need to shove here. Notkin, who is an 'older' amateur player who satellited in. At the point where Miller effectively 3b shoves (for 4bb), I don't really see the need to do anything other than flat. Notkin is going to make it fairly obvious if he has a hand that beats us when it folds back round to him. It's not like some random 'older' satty winner is just going to randomly take off here with something worse than ATo. All the times when he doesn't have a premium hand he's just going to flat and were going to check it down.

I agree, that may well be true for Jacques' bet but it doesn't affect the call by Rivers (apart from making it a better call because Notkin is less likely to call).

best thing ever about this is the graphic for Notkin.
His happy older face next to the 'KK' picture just made me crease up when I watched this unfold.
