I went I to a tool supplier in Leicester called Eca
They had a stand that said
"Help for heroes" all over it

It was selling chocolate bars and cans of energy drink for £1 each 1p donated to help for Heroes for every item sold !

My opinion was (and I told them as much)

They are rip off prices justified by the fact they are giving 1p to charity
I actually felt it was an insult

Am I on my own here ?

No totally within your rights.  All profits should be going to the charity imo not 1p per item for them to be obliged to use the charity as their key selling point.

a) I agree with you. Like those "charity" clothing collection bags you get through the door which are actually a for a company where they give 1p in the pound of their profits to a dubious charity run by their mates. A special circle of hell awaits these people.

b) Regardless of whether I agree with you or not, if you are a customer you're entitled to moan.

c) I'd avoid using this supplier in future- if they are prepared to stoop this low in this way, who knows what else they are doing?

Yep a piss take. How would it work with tax? Would they actually get a tax break for doing it like that?

Not something a lot of people would take the time to do, but report to charities commission and help for heroes

another cource of action would be to ask the person who is selling the goods ,...so if im getting this right when you sell 1000 items at £1 with a gross profit of 50% your company makes a profit of £500 and then sends £10 to help for heros........
do you not think that when your parent sent you to school and then possibley university with all the sacrafice and hard work involved ,,,that they had some thing better in mind for you

I thought if they were advertising it as a charity then they have to give a certain % to that charity, around 30% minimum i thought? Perhaps i'm wrong
