Napoleons Eccy Road closes for good this Sunday.

Been open for 42 years. I first went in there 33 years ago.

Great memories over the years.

Wasn’t very well known for poker tournaments, Owlerton put in the bigger events.

Used to be the place to be seen years ago, sadly there were more staff than punters in the actual casino in recent years.

Might have to call in for a cash game one last time on Saturday or Sunday.

Do they even do cash games still?

Yep first place I played poker too, had a lot of fun nights there and also one of my better live results that never made it onto The Hendon Mob despite being a proper 'fessy'.

However, after having been to many a card room up and down the country, it may have been the worse, with terrible tables and the last one to ban smoking. If you have one look at Genting's card room here (which owes a lot to DTD the way it looks IMO) there is no wonder it is closing.

It was the first casino I ever set foot in. It must have just opened.

Highlight for me was several people genuinely suggesting a 19 way chop in a tournament that started with about 24 people.

The cash games are run by Danny and Stu.

Naps must charge them a weekly rent and they run the games.

Owlerton does the same I think with Kaz. He runs a popular dealers choice game down there, I think the likes of Lawrence Gosney sometimes plays that.

The Eccy Road cash game is usually pretty soft but a lot smaller than Genting games. Do get a few crazy old school gamblers turning up pissed at weekends to give their cash away though.

I remember playing a Christmas event there and one local very kindly offered to split 1st and 2nd prize money with his mate while me and the other guy could split 3rd and 4th.  Pretty even in chips too!  So tempting.

Loved their rules on chops at end of tourneys,  that if you were chipleader you got first, second in chips got second, no ICM nonsense Smiley
