I played 2A it is correct 66% of the field was paid

We had the ladder payouts available to us, I was 34th which paid $1750

There were also added WPT 550 dollar seats to the last 54 out of the 150

Was strange playing before Day 1 was completed but they were able to calculate based on the overlaid prize pool

Was too hot inside, it improved but still uncomfortable, dealing was excellent.

The bubble went on too long, for some reason hand for hand started way before 1 to go.

I won a seat for $11 and won combined value $2300 can't argue with that value, wd DTD

Total attendance was 7,128 I believe, leaving an overlay of $287,200.

516 players started Day 2b, 306 are paid from these with 46 players remaining. They'll play down to 30 players tonight.

live updates will be on the partypoker blog from Day 3 until the tournament's conclusion.

Getting 7,000 plus runners is pretty damned impressive.

I had one bullet, late last night. I hadn't intended to initially, and in a sense I wish I hadn't. Not just because it was one of the most dispiriting sessions of poker I can remember and I didn't survive beyond level 9; I hadn't taken part up till that point because I felt somewhat disadvantaged against a lot of the field.
Those that were time rich and able to play big hours in the chase for Golden Chips, and those that were bankrolled to make multiple entries.

Is it a case that it has become overly complicated and people have too many options?
Just taking a look at the sheet with all the sats/qualifying tournies is a headaches.
People have too much choice and runners get spread too thin.
It probably is too many levels/commitment for the buyin. People have other things to do on a bank hol weekend then spend it all playing poker.

Having it while SCOOP is going on is a massive factor too.

It might only have stopped 200 odd players participating, but they are the ones who were likely to throw 10 or more bullets at it.

I played yesterday which was been the busiest day probably, and I knew less then 10 players.

Yeah, excellent point, hadn't even thought about scoop

It can't really make that mich difference though.  200 and 10 bullets each just seems very optimistic.  I am never staying up to play the SCOOP main and its structure from hell, but I only did 3 bullets.  Suspect some of those who could do 10 bullets will just look at it as too small on any Sunday.

The event had 7000 entries, which would have been a great success without the guarantee.  I think we just found the limit as to how ambitious you can be.  Half a million guarantee and everyone would be saying wow?

Edit just realised the 7.30 scoop is 2 days.  Cancel the never staying up bit.  Is tempting now.  Kids going to drive me mad in the morning tho.

Most of the bets placed so far seem more like hopeful punts rather than value spots

Rob's final blog entry on the partypoker Grand Prix Million

http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/blog.php?profile=4&id=514

"The next Grand Prix Million will be in December 2015, $1M GTD and $100+$20 buy-in with provisional dates the week of 14th - 20th December. This will double up as a bit of a Xmas do / end of year bash for DTD members and partypoker players, a fun end to the poker year for everyone involved."

"No. We have not gone mad. We can do this second time round."

Its a shame that dtd didn't get close to the guarantee, but good on Rob to announce another 1M guarantee in December.  With a longer build up and and a bit more thought in the marketing, then it will smash the guarantee and bring some Christmas cheer to everyone!! Smiley

After just reading there is going to be a second Grand Prix million and wondering if Rob has had a bump to the head I thought I would post a thought on what might reduce the overlay or hit the guarantee next time around...

Play to 10% on day one - all day two players in the money (this is never popular with the regs but could encourage more recs)
And

With the above in play - payout all day twos

For example if it was this past weekend and someone made day two three times - the smallest stack is removed and the minimum cash is paid...the other two stacks play the two day twos - resulting in absolute minimum of three min cash payouts

I think that could greatly encourage multiple entrants.

Just throwing it in there
