Running it twice fairness question

Home Game. All players have been running it twice when all in as a default. Then this multiway spot came up.

Player A allin preflop, Player B and Player C both call with chips behind.

Flop comes down, Player B allin, Player C folds. Player B says to A, "twice?", to which A is now confused, "are we just running the turn and river twice?", B says "yes" and C confirms this is standard procedure.

Is this unfair on A or B or no-one? Is it standard procedure? If it's pre-agred preflop that it'll be run twice at whatever street the betting is finished on then is that then fair on all parties? e.g. flop goes check check, turn goes allin, call - then we run the river twice.

Remember this is a home game not a casino game, so interested in whether this is fair on all parties, not whether it's allowed in casinos.

Fwiw I don't agree with the commonly thrown around idea that things can't be run twice if it's not a heads up pot. I think if it's a 3 way allin pre flop why shouldn't you run it twice?

You run it twice from the point at which ALL the money is all-in (i.e. no further betting is possible). This is perfectly fair on every player, even a player who was all-in on a previous street. No-one is taking the worst (or the best) of it, it is fair for every player.

Any player should be allowed to veto RIT if he is all-in. If player A is all-in for £10 preflop and then Players B and C get all-in for £1000 each on the flop, Player A can still veto running two turns and rivers. However this would likely be considered a rather petty and unpleasant thing to do - and especially in a friendly home game where everyone has been running it twice as standard. I play in a private game where one player never ever runs it twice cos he is such a baller. If he is all-in and there is a substantial side pot between other players we sometimes run it twice for the sidepot.

Yeah standard and fair to run twice from the point all the monies are in. Anyone ever run it more than twice?  I like 3 times for big pots, at least then there's always a winner.

Further to this... A question pertaining (spelling?) to running it twice etiquette in general....


My personal feelings are that it should be the player who is behind who has the decision, also that a RIT should never be allowed unless the cards are face up and visible, twice I've seen people lie about their hand in these situations... then comment that "bluffing is part of poker".
I'd also prefer a 1, 2 or 3 standard option...

It has to be an agreement and not the decision of the player who happens to be behind. If the parties can't agree on how many times they wish to run it then it defaults back to once.

And that 2nd part is just lol and a good way of grasping someones sense of character.
