A quick search for Sophus Williams

Sophus Williams (actually: Sophus Vilhelm Schou) (* July 5, 1835 in Copenhagen; † October 18, 1900 in Grabow (Möckern)) was a Danish German photographer.

It appears a few of his photos are held in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam

Sophus Williams and E Linde & Coas noted on some of your photos (verlag means publisher)

Something to get you started.

Geo

Don't get her started Geo, if she's 'owt like her Maam, she'll never stop.

I think you'll find in the real world I save my conversational skills for the few people I find interesting,  where as my dear sweet mother will happily witter away to any old divvy.

the one thing of use I can say is that the picture may not have been taken by Sophus Williams, but that Williams is the current owner of the E. Linde & Co publisher.

Nachf. is 'Nachfolger' (successor) in German, and this construction is common when one business is bought by another but wants to keep the old name (even though the 'actual' name - for the chamber of commerce record has to be different, so they'll still trade as E. Linde & Co, but the 'official name' is E. Linde & Co. Nachf. Sophus Williams)

Ooh, that's interesting Mulhuzz, impressive language skills there.
Opens up a new line of enquiry too. Cheers!

ebay will most likely be your friend for appraising.
Just have a look for similar for sale/sold for price guide. Most of the established sellers on there will probably be pretty helpful too if you message them.

You could also try the Postcard Traders Association

Yes I've had a shufti at Ebay but the prices vary so much it's hard to get a real idea, especially as mine are all different types and sizes.
I'm going to try and take them to be looked at properly soon.

How did you get on with getting them appraised?

Found this little photo in a box of old books at the boot sale this morning, no date or other useful info on it though,  what do you reckon folks?
It would be great to know the era and maybe the location?
I'll pm tonji cos I know he's our guy, but if anyone else has any ideas?
T.i.a.
