You are in a hand, where you opponent has just been counterfeited. as he has a small pair (22, 33)

The board -Qc-Kd-7d-Qh

You have -5c (or similar), but your opponent mucks his hands and assumes he can not win.

What do you do?

A) Split the money
B) Take the money, it's his mistake
C) Dependent on who the other person is
D) Other

B.

Opens up some possibilities for people to angleshoot if they see you chop this.

It also might happen to you at some point and you will likely not get the money back.

This thing happened to me where I mucked my hand vs a regular I have played a LOT with for a 3k sidepot and I didn't even expect for one minute that I would get the money back.

Just like misclicks etc you have to accept this is a part of the game and deal with it.

Imo.

B. I can see the reasons why you'd do otherwise but it's not like you've angled in any way and nor is it your job to enforce the rules.

Similar thing happened to me at DTD a few months ago. I hit the straight on the flop and bet and got called on all streets only for the board to run the same straight as me. The pot was £300 and I put the other player all in for a further £180. He called and I declared a straight, he mucked. As he mucked I said told him he had a straight also. I felt it was only fair to split the pot with him. He was so thankful for my honesty. I felt really good.

I took all his money at a later stage and that felt a lot better.

Happened to me on a couple of times  playing PLO at the Vic. Misread my hand, then remembered i hit a gutshot straight. I just got a sorry, should read your hand better.

Lesson learned, but he had a point. Its a game of mistakes, not sure its right you should give it back.

Depends who it's against. If i know absolutely 100% that the other person would give me a chop in the same situation, i would chop it, unless the other person is Mitch. In all other circumstances, i'd chose B and take the pot, otherwise you're just negatively freerolling any similar spots. Likewise, I wouldnt expect to be given a chop if I were to be the player doing the mucking.

Dependant a bit who it is, actually no, if it's a mate I defo take the pot just to mock him afterwards!  If it's a noob who doesn't know any better then yeah give em a break- once.  Pretty much all other times take the pot.  As said ^ it's a game of mistakes that get taken advantage of, this is one.

I mucked the best hand once, that was a very expensive lesson, but I have never and will never do it again.

[  ] was offered option A
