Are you going to be lecturing me on remaining calm and not name calling in political discussions also?

I'm not very fond of Tony Blair but I watched an interview yesterday with brillo and it made me think how much more intelligent people sound when they are free of the shackles of parroting the party line.

Wasn't so much comparing him with his former self, as comparing him to politicians who generally parrot a set of lines rather than listen, engage, think and respond accordingly.

There are some good exceptions ( Rees Mogg, McDonnell might be recent examples) who tend to engage in a conversation, given the chance, rather than deliver a series of set piece monologues

Instinctively, I don't like the idea of a second referendum as it wasn't in the rules and the only people campaigning for it want the result to change - so it's not a natural club for me to want to join.

Various thoughts re-surfaced yesterday along the lines that it's probably more good than bad. I think I'd be well short of feeling strongly enough about it to campaign for one but on balance it seems quite sensible.

The main rationale is that I can't think of any other decision that I make at home or in business where I don't check myself or more likely check with others before making the final decision - could be just a quick  'Are you sure ?' or a more depthful weighing up and final 'Are you really sure you want to do this ?'.

I don't think I would want to contemplate 12 weeks of campaigns, lies, spin or a different set of questions as there is nothing hard and fast about destination anyway. And we've had nearly 3 years to consider the situation. So, if they could change the law on how referendums are organised and simply announce that in 1-2 weeks time there would be a referendum with the question along the lines that basically asked, are you sure ? by asking the same question again I'd be quite happy with that.
