This is handy guide to the mess we are in

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-37634967

Theresa May and her cohorts have absolutely no idea which direction to go in on any number of issues.

Although imagining Corbyn and his platoon of clowns in control of this bus is even more horrifying.

Was pretty impressed with Keir Starmer yesterday though. But it is always going to be easier sitting at a ringside seat criticising and picking holes in the government's strategy than actually making plans.

Just shows how ineffective Corbyn has been up til now that there has been virtually zero critique on the government's plans until yesterday.

the slew of stuff like this is unremitting unfortunately. Maybe just read the daily mail for a week, redress my mental balance

Bad news: the cost of Brexit is bigger than you think:

Yep, should be like like picking cherries from a tree, finding faults in the government's plans and position at the moment.

John McDonnell could look like an expert parliamentarian in this spot.

Maybe extend that gilt yield chart back a little bit to get a sense of perspective?

Gilt yields soaring to 1% isn't a headline I ever ecpected to see as far back as just 10 years ago.

In amongst all the bad news, some meh news to keep those with hands over their ears happy.

SNP Conference is under way, not my party of choice but I am looking forward to hearing what they have to say.

I liked this though, and I agree with the sentiment.

Just catching up as I was doing a bit of work from home earlier and it seems #indyref2 is definitely on the table then.

My personal preference was always to have the indyref in 2019, I said prior to the referendum in 2014 that another round of Tory government would positively tilt things in favour of a yes vote.

This time around though I sincerely hope the #Yes movement learn from the mistakes of 2013/2014.

What's the coup up there?

Give them a referendum every few years until they 'yes' wins?

Or perhaps tell them the truth and let them vote on that and not some made up fairytale.

serious questions

given oil prices and the likelihood of a huge budget deficit post indyref/yes, how would Scotland get on?

the yes voter would take budget and spending cuts in exchange for NewScotland constitutional independence?

pound/euro or new currency post indyref/yes?

this was a perspective this morning, suppose it could be called a unionist one.

on a completely different issue, this was a sobering read

"We are facing the possibility of a second Cold War – and if it happens, Isis will never be defeated"

Every conflict during the Cold War was fought by armies or insurgents working on behalf of the Americans, Russians, or, occasionally the Chinese: Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Angola and the list goes on. These countries would use proxies again, but with a higher death count, in the 21st century

Honestly, I don't really care at the minute. The outlook for a Brexited Britain is pretty bleak and unappealing plus I really no longer wish to be associated with Westminster and to a degree England as we clearly have a different perspective as nations.
