"the plan from the Labour leadership is to have the backbenches bear the brunt of any fallout from a Brexit vote in the House. "Propping up a Tory government", etc. when there is no realistic scenario that results in a general election"

"Corbyn's preferred outcome, short of an election and Labour govt, is to get Brexit without getting any of the blame for Brexit."

Thanks for this. Now please never contact me again.  Cheesy

Very good article.

Interesting 30 ish Labour MP's "might" help May....presume many hold seats in Leave areas?.

As was said on Sky tonight....the Irish problem could be solved if DUP , May and EU all took a little bit of pain. Could well be time for May to face down the DUP?

Only for the serious Brexit junkies!

Transcript of the "Brexit as a Revolution lecture" at Trinity College Cambridge, by Sir Mark Ivan Rogers, former UK Permanent Representative to the EU, is now available:

Mini Cabinet meeting this evening.

Laura K tonight on twitter

Ministers were not told explicitly tonight that No 10 is minded to accept the EU position of no time limit to get a deal, but sources suggest others WERE told that earlier today, so lots of nerves around - v hard to see how that would get thro Cabinet unscathed + Commons

A major motorway is being closed for more than a month in the run-up to Christmas to turn it into a lorry park - without consultation from the local community (or even their local MPs). The reason? No Deal preparations.

though if the MPs had read this thread they would have known about it months ago. Let that be a lesson to them

The Electoral Commission found the main Leave campaigns broke the law, and referred them to the Met.

So why has the police not opened an investigation, 5 months later?

(cliffs: political sensitivities)

one campaigner was moved to say "This is HUGE. Met police NOT investigating criminal behaviour by Leave campaigns. AFTER Electoral Commission rules they broke law and hands over evidence."

OBR likens no-deal Brexit impact to three-day week

The Office for Budget Responsibility raised the spectre of goods shortages and hoarding in the event of a 'disorderly' divorce.

You are being disingenuous here.

The independent Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) said those events - when the UK was hit by industrial disputes and energy shortages - did not provide a direct parallel with what could happen in a disorderly Brexit.

It also said that it was "next to impossible to calibrate" in advance what impact a no-deal might be likely to have..

So the accurate reading is that the OBR said that Brexit and the three-day week were not a parallel to a disorderly Brexit.

Interconnectors consistently supply between 2 and 8% of UK daily energy needs.with two more coming online in 2019

"After March 2019 if there’s no deal European energy law will no longer apply to the UK and the UK’s electricity markets will be decoupled from the Internal Energy Market."

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/trading-electricity-if-theres-no-brexit-deal/trading-electricity-if-theres-no-brexit-deal

I am sure you won't want all 29 notices but there are the first couple

UK Busness Insider Exclusive:

"Theresa May given the weekend to change her backstop plan or face losing Andrea Leadsom, Esther McVey and Peddy Mordaunt from Cabinet

It is the litmus test for the taking back control... this is the killer moment"

--

my thought: they want a firm date for transition to end. the current plan has the word "indefinitely" (which isn't permanent, but pretty close) in while they work out a NI solution.
