On about draft 200.
Currently rocking a Kane, Roo, Bentekkers front line.
Front line too big = midfield and defence too weak.
Too hot, put in more cold water. Too cold, put in more hot water. Too hot, put in more.......etc, etc

KING KANE.
Never been out of my team.
Dazzler - thoughts on the school of thought this season that suggests breaking the mould and spending more money on defence as that is where the value is? 4.5 defenders are so last year. My defence currently reads:-
Cedric
Azpi
Koscielny
Jones
Rose
Play 442 most weeks, rotating two cheaper strikers around Kane and a stellar midfield 4.
I currently do not have Rooney and he is 80-90% not going to make my team. Would mean a complete change of plans. Dreading the anti-sweat already mind you.
King Kane has never been in my team. Too expensive and regression imminent. Best of luck with him though!
My thoughts on defence being where the value is?
Defence is always where the value is. The top defenders and keepers always get more than 20 points/£1m spent. And that drops as you move into midfield and drops further when you move up front.
Value is one thing, an important thing. But points is another, a more important thing.
The most points come from forwards, next is mids, next is defenders, next is keepers. In direct contrast to where the value is.
The same as every season.
Every single season the best formation has been 3-4-3. This season will be no different.
There might be a couple of weeks where playing 4-3-3 or 5-4-1 or whatever might be best. But 3-4-3 will be king. Always!
I actually started last year with a 3-5-2.
I soon reverted back to 3-4-3.

Already changed it.
Team is more balanced now.
Reckon i am settled now.
Going 3-4-3 with very budget defence.
On your budget challenge, i have hennessy, baker, Wanyama as perm bench warmers and will rotate two 4.5m defs. Thats about as good as you can do. Need to see if any budget defenders start regularly and bring them in.
Have now spent 26m on front line

Here's one tip.
If you don't have Rooney, your team is terrible.
Seriously. He's the 1st player every decent player has in his team this season. It's universally accepted.
Start with him and build from there.
grrr i am in 2 minds with rooney he was first guy on my list last year but he was terrible
and got dropped obviously later than i should of and by that time the costa aguero ships had sailed
i have rooney in my line up though
i have spent 99 million but could swap kane in for benteke for the 1 million
on bench i have
krul 4.5 million
barry 4.5 million
lescott 5 million
morgan 4.5 million
should/could i save more on bench and the million i havent spent should i spend on the bench if i like the players in my starting line up?
It depends!
This year I think it's going to be very difficult, probably impossible, to get a £4m goalkeeper, 2 x £4m defenders and a £4.5m mid that all play regularly.
That's ideally what you want so you can get all your money on the pitch in your first XI.
In the absence of that, you'll need to spend a little extra on your bench but the principle remains, you want that figure to be as low as possible.
You're £2m over already. That's not terrible but I wouldn't want to be making that £3m.
I'd probably look to invest the £1m in the starting XI.
There is a lot of merit in holding maybe £0.5m back in case you want to do a like for like transfer, say Ozil (£8.5m) -> Depay (£8.5m) but you can't coz the one you want to buy has gone up by £0.1m or yours has dropped £0.1m.
The extra cash in the bank means you can negate that problem.
Who is your other keeper? Are you rotating 2 x £4.5m?
I guess the reason you have Barry as your £4.5m mid instead of Wanyama is coz you already have the max Southampton players?
yeah plan is to play that goalie from Leicester what he loses in goals he makes up for with saves
yeah I am hoping for a lot of goals from saints so going to use my 3 on there creatives and goals
rather than there defence which isn't going to be as strong this year wanyama will be scoring bonus points but wont be getting the point assist
other saints will get and those guys are in my starting I think barry will be a regular starter this season

Atually I mentioned Triggerlips before.
He is the 2nd ranked player in the Fantasy Football Scout Hall of Fame and he's basically one of the best players in the world.
Anyway he wrote an article on team balance. He's a 3-4-3 advocate. He also pre allocates his budget to the positions.
https://www.triggerlips.com/index.php/team-structure/
9m on keepers
24m on defenders
37.5m on midfielders
29.5m on strikers
If you stick to that or close to it, you should be okay.

Loads more to come tho.
And there is £10 added to the Free league. For the highest placed finisher that doesn't win a cash prize elsewhere.
£25 added to the £25 league. That'll be used in the Cup.
And £50 added to the £50 league. That'll be used in the Cup.

what do people think or schnederlin for 5.5 million
he could be huge or he could be a flop but the price seems very reasonable if he has a good run in team

Don't buy defensive midfielders. I know he can get forward but nah.
I think he may get rested/rotated a little with Schweinie, Carrick and Blind.
You just can't stop buying Southampton players. He's gone Iron, let it go.
Not for me, Clive.
