Aston Villa

West Brom

Birmingham

Wolves

You are a buyer of a football club, and want to buy the best asset on a ten year view, to flip at a profit

the two premier sides would cost you twice as much as the two championship sides

which club do you buy on potential to do the best and why?

Villa have the history, fan base, stadium etc to potentially be in the top six if the right owner throws enough money at it. But when you start at £150m purchase price its a big ask to make significant money unless you invest very heavily.

West Brom are never really going to get beyond their current situation for me. Defo wouldn't be buying West Brom.

Probably in terms of growing a club and selling it I would instinctively have said Wolves but that perhaps under estimates the potential of Birmingham City.

Probably buy the one of the Championship clubs - most potential upside on your investment.

Wolves, all that illustrious history plus the potential upside out weighs the Villa history I think.

Birmingham City- big city- passionate fan base. Good young coach at the helm.

Although buying villa and sacking Sherwood sounds tempting

Birmingham, if you can get rid of all traces of the existing ownership regime. All the expensive players have gone, half the squad play for tuppence a week and the rest get a discount down the Ladypool Road curry houses. Disillusioned fanbase, desperate to return to St Andrew's when the club isn't a no man's land mess.

If someone can clear the existing situation, it has a premier league ground and a huge upside.

Wolves close second, although Birmingham as second city is a bigger commercial draw.

Then Villa, with history and a young squad.

Then west brom, who are probably near their ceiling.

Is the bloke selling Wolves (Steve Morgan?) the same guy that wanted to buy Liverpool in the 90's early 00's?

I think Birmingham because I went to Villa Park once to give a friend a taste of 'Premiership' football. It was Villa v Derby and the place was a mausoleum.

Maybe it was a bad day, but it stuck with me.
