Friend with gamblng problem

For a year or two, I have been able to realise that I have a friend who has a problem with gambling. I never would have realised this until I would bump into him when he was shoving notes into the FBOT's, when I would pop into the bookies.

Sadly, this affects me as we make plans, the plans end up being cancelled. Today is no different. I took £200+ off him when he was paid this week, to pay for us to go to London in the middle of November. I paid for both the hotel & train tickets for both of us, yesterday he text saying he had lost it all. Then said he would borrow the money for London, he borrowed the money, then lost it. I believe he has lost £2k. That £2k I believe will have been lost on roulette from home.

I am stuck really. I don't want to patronise him, we both realise he needs help and I can't keep on helping him out. But how can I help in terms of getting him help?

Tell someone who can influence him/ his cash flow usually works. Usually the best start is getting his partner etc (parent- not sure how old he is), who can stop his cash flow.

Obviously follow stuff tighty posted.

I appreciate the link, but how do I approach. I have already told him to go to GA.

In regards to someone else helping him, he went to his parents who lent him money! I am not sure that is helping, as I am aware that they know about the problem

you can ring them up on the helpline and ask these sort of questions to them....?
