very small PLO online tournament

12 left 8 paid

you are 2nd in chips, same table as chip leader 150,000-200,000 deep at 800-1600

poor standard of play, you included.

He pot raises in late position

you call in the big blind with

it comes

you check

He bets pot

against the chip leader......

should you be calling, and folding if you miss the turn?

check raising the pot and getting it in on the turn hit or miss?

does your strategy alter if you cover the opponent?

Always helps to post amounts just to stop the brain freeze of trying to figure out what pot is on the flop turn etc and what stacks behind are.

I'm most likely calling flop and turn.

We have 2 nut draws and can also have the best hand without improving.

Presumably numbers look like this

Villain raises CO to 5,600 playing 200,000
We call BB playing 150,000 w/

Flop (12,000)

We check, villain pots

thanks, stacks are a bit more even than that but the rest looks right

Yeah cant see me folding to a turn bet regardless, top top with 2 nut draws is a huge hand. call call and see what happens on the river

Just my 2 cents. It should be noted that, even if we knew the payouts etc. I am horrible at ICM, so this might be an absolute disaster.

Depending on the other stack sizes I might even fold pre, although they would have to be quite specific. For example if between us we have half the chips in play and everyone else is super short and villain has not been getting out of line then I don't mind conceding this hand.

As played so far, we obviously cannot peel this flop and fold and we are not ever going to get a better hand to fold by raising. Obviously we could protect against pairs 99-QQ from drilling a set on the turn by raising flop, but we are unlikely to fold if any one of those cards peels off anyway, so I like calling flop and turn especially considering we've still got loads left if we brick brick.

Strategy only changes if we are less deep. If we could conceivably get it in on this flop then I think we have to take the gamble.

Has he been/trying to run over table?

Is it a 6max or 9 handed comp?

At the moment as played and has been said just have to call and go to turn.

I don't think there is any other play than to raise here.

+1

In these smaller PLO comps online, tons of people just mash the pot button as their standard bet sizing. I guess it gives them some balance, but it's not something to overthink.

I'd be check/raising to 28k and not folding. TPTK, two nut draws. Vs AAxx you're a 64% fav, vs KKxx you're a 35% dog but you block KKxx and vs a random 15% range you're 78%. Favorite vs any wonky 2 pair hands he might have too.

Every chance you just get a fold, but I'm happy to just go with it. Huge hand, and potential run away chip lead going into final table is worth the risk imo.

If he has a set he has a set, but your hand is very big and you have lots of fold equity and great equity when called. When your in that position with a venerable made hand then I can rarely see a case for not raising

Agree but it does depend on your opponents tendencies if a rolls off. We are in amazing shape vs some of the bigger draws. 75 with clubs might gii with you in a small buyin.
