RIP Eric.  One of Stoke's finest.  True game changer in his sport.  Set up the showbiz style of darts that is standard today years before big time TV darts happened weekly.  Pushed, sponsored and motivated Taylor to be the greatest ever English sportsman.

Well said arboy. Had a few drinks with Eric in Dublin some years ago, still had the ego that made him famous. I like people who are genuine. RIP Eric a true darting legend.

What memories, my Dad took me to Wembley Stadium many a time to watch Ivan Mauger.

This photo is from Newcastle Speedway Stadium (now known as Brough Park), look at the crowds. Sadly, Speedway in the UK, much like Greyhounds, is well past it's well-by date & these days there are no such thing as "crowds" at either.

Literally the only speedwayer that I could name. Ubiquitous in the 70s when Speedway was on the TV on Saturdays. Another reminder of pending doom
