Tell us what you think are the best cakes in the world.

I'll start with two that will take some beating.

The Tesco version of an iced Belgian bun is far & away the best.

Chuck these two into the mix

Is it a cake, is it a biscuit? Is it neither? Either way, they're amazing.

I wouldn't really call any of the things ITT so far a cake btw.

But if we're talking about buns or pastries, then look no further than a cinnamon swirl imo...

The Tesco version of an iced Belgian bun is far & away the best.

Apart from the Gregg's version obviously.

We're just considering mass-produced Belgian Buns here, right?

In shocking developments, only Woodsey is close to right.  How can any of that mass produced stuff be close to the best cake in the world?  It is like taking Gordon Ramsey shopping at Iceland.

Lemon drizzle is the nuts obv, as is freshly made carrot cake.

Hi David,

You are correct about the Greggs Belgium Buns and I posted this in Tikays diary a few months ago. I bet he hasn't even tried the Greggs version yet. It would be difficult to believe that anyone who had tried both would think the Tesco ones are better.

Obviously home baked cakes beat mass produced cakes, but Carrots belong in casseroles and stews, they may also be used as an accompaniment for a roast dinner, as a salad ingredient, or as crudités, they definitely don't belong in cake.
