WPT National first couple of orbits of Day 2

1000-2000 ra 200

you are playing 70,000, substantially below average

Albert Sapiano opens to 6,000 in mid position covering you comfortably. has generally been calling raises, seeing flops and going with it if he hits any part of it. An open raise is rare from him, today

Simon Deadman flats from 40,000 in the small blind. Quite active with a short stack and trying to make something happen in the 20 or so hands of the day so far

you are in the big blind with

would you consider shoving and picking up the 15k or so in the middle?

if not, of the various options what do you like?

You say an open raise is unusual does he limp a lot?

If he does open, is 3 x his standard raise size? Or is he inconsistent with raise sizing.

My decision would be based on the above.

35bbs seems a little excessive to shove here with KQoff. It's between calling and 3betting to me. Folding to a 4bet from Albert and calling a shove from Simon, if we take the 3bet option. All depends on table and own image if we 3bet or just call but wouldn't shove personally

I don't know much, but I would call a Sapiano shove if I 3 bet.  I think flatting here is fine.  Sapiano open raises a lot in my experience.  Deadman could be very wide here knowing this.

Do we think Sapiano will play face up to a lead, given that he still has a short stack left to act behind him, or does he not care about this kind of stuff?

Ha, I wouldn't try and read him.  He calls because he has trips, a gut shot or because he is just a bit tilted that you called his AK and the flop is low.  He can shove all these hands too.   Good luck.  Have played with him twice and was left open mouthed on several occasions.

Really easy call here. Think if u jam and get called here you're crushed.

Your hand isnt too tricky to play OOP either

Too much dead money with Simons flat who is always 3betting top range vs Albert.

I'd 3bet to 20k, if Albert calls that's fine.

WPT National... Day 2

...

Thin.

Roll Eyes

I hate these spots, but we're in the comp to play against these guys, of course.

I prefer 3 betting but not jamming. We act last pre. Albert won't like the squeeze but we get to find out whether he wants to play his hand (I'm presuming he covers us). Simon should respect the squeeze: he knows we have raised enough that we are committed if he jams so he has to make the decision to dance or fold and play 17 bb.

I'm just calling here or doing a reverse-Albert if you like.

Albert's 3xraise gets my attention as that is not his usual procedure iirc.

Agree, Deadman literally never has a trap here ever imo, not vs Albert. Happy to 3bet, fold vs a jam, but expecting Albert to peel 90% of the time with a range we do very very well against
