Playing downton is definitely high on the list of things to do. Last time I was in that part of the world it was only for a 3 day trip and spent most of that time enjoying the free booze in the casinos! Definitely a slight upgrade to waiting 30 minutes for a flat coke from genting stoke. Can't wait to go back and have a good crack at more of sin city.

Edit: ***Downtown not downton. Although playing in the abbey would be fun

Where did I read that a lot of tournament senior staff have been sacked in Vegas for fiddling /robbing the rake / reentry /rebuy pot ?
Bad enough the casino takes enough out of it -they've realised it's a little gold mine
But people like to play so we get shorn like sheep all ways to xmas
Personally I've played 4/5 $1k n $1500 rio wsop jobbies  ,why ? Idk ! I can't even win at Luton these days never mind Vegas  but it's rarely the same players on the podium in these events so we live in hope  even pigeons like me !
It's ful of dreamers n shot takers n why not ?it's what makes poker what it is ,available to all ,male female young n old

I've been downtown a few times but only ever played there once (a satty to some Caribbean donkfest I had absolutely no interest in winning, none at all), and never played a hand of cash in that neck of the woods.

How frequently does low limit ($1/$2, $1/$3) hold em run at those places? Gonna be playing the Nugget 100k MTT first weekend of June but would like to dabble in some cash before and maybe after. Easy enough to get a game for a couple hours?

I might stand out amongst the cowboy hat wearing 70yr olds Smiley

Exactly what I'll be doing this summer.

I will most likely spend most of my time plotted up at the head of Claude's Bar, right outside the poker room Smiley

Used to happen a lot in the small entry daily tournies on the strip i.e. $120 and under. Payouts rarely represented the players in the tournies (and on top of the 30% rake for these)
The ones that had lots of locals in were better as they were pretty keen to question the staff on the runners/prizepool

At some point over the next few years, potentially this summer but unlikely, I'll be in Vegas for a short time. It'd be a crime to not have a pop at one of the smaller buy in events during my time there. I was just wondering what the smaller events, as in the $1000, are like to play? Stuff such as the structure, difficulty of the field etc. Any in particular events which are better than others? Any help would be awesome.

You could try the WSOP daily tournies that run everyday. Highest buyin roughly $235 they do two other buyins every day but cannot remember the buy in for those

4 per day this year, as below;

Daily Deepstacks

2 p.m. - $235 No-Limit Hold’em
5 p.m. - $185 No-Limit Hold’em
7 p.m. - $135 No-Limit Hold’em
9 p.m. - $365 Turbo No-Limit Hold’em

Some of these get huge fields, up to 1,400 per day & they run right through the series. They are all 1 day events.

He was alive & well, & still strutting his stuff, as recently as 2015.
