Paging Honeybadger <3
Stu's out saving the world these days, but I'll come in on his behalf and say what an absolutely dreadful game Irish is, take fun elements of NLHE, the fun elements to PLO and throw those away and just work with the boring parts of both games...
In multi-card plo a LOT of equity is derived from backdoor draws, in 5 card PLO it's not uncommon to have at least 3 relevant backdoor draws (10-20%!) effectively draws to turn cars that allow you continue passively or aggressively in the hand. This is completely removed in Irish, plus you then have to balance out the value of a made hand vs a draw, which is somewhat logical but also massively guessing for the most part. This means that pre-flop speculating is never gonna work, you can get a little splashy in loose multi-card plo games when you're IP but in full ring Irish, the game needs a SUPER nitty pre-flop strategy if you're gonna play profitably, flop good made hands and mop up inexperienced peoples mistakes (continuing with A4 on AT8 when it was 5 handed, keeping a non-nut SD on a flush draw board etc.)
I'm sure the £4 is absolutely fine initially, providing the games not too aggro pre-flop which i'd be staggered if it was, but after that need to fold at every spot, even if you were closing the action it's an absolute slam dunk fold for the £100 and even more slam dunk £220. Now you're in a spot where you've dusted £200 because you weren't concentrating at 5am (all been there!!!) and if you wanna fire the other £800 at it to try come out in a blaze of glory then I think that's fine, for sure a losing play though if that really matters at this point.
