Weird spot in £2/£2 5 card Irish pot limit hand.
Game hardly ever gets called but got called tonight and
All hell broke loose lol. £4 straddle called in 2 spots
I call AdTdJs2s3x next seat calls and straddle makes it £32
Sb cold calls and first limper(usually really solid but chases a bit when stuck, which he was)
Makes it £100. Next folds then loose chaser moves in for £220
It's now about 5am and for some brain fart reason I think that
The £100 squeezer can't re-open the action and I call, knowing that the other 2
Are coming along and 4 of us including me are 1k+ deep. Direct left folds
Original straddle £32 squeezer calls £220 now the cold caller moves in for 1k
Mr solid moves in for 1k now the action is on me and it's £800 odd more
I know realise that I've fucked up hugley and that the action could be re-opened.
Just a fkin weird hand as if mr solid has AAKK or AA with another pair he's never in a great
Spot multiway and my hand has decent board coverage post flop (after we discard 3) I'm just
Really unsure on how equities run in these spots as it's such a rare game to play.

Maybe it's just a case of having a punt or not

i am not sure i like your starting hand at all in irish,
the J2 flush isnt the best even if you flop the flush or the draw
the 2,3 just dont connect well enough with your other cards and will likely get you the idiot end of any straights
i love you hand in O8 but in irish i would prefer a big pair with connecting and suited cards so when you connect to a flop you do have to decide what to do
rather than being dictated too by lack of options

or sometimes its just worth a punt and hope for the best as its a gamblers game

I think your second post sums it up. Such a weird game without wraps post.

How close is the £100? Doesn't feel like it flops big enough but idk. Paging Honeybadger <3

The £100 is loose but think they will make big mistakes post and over value
Overpairs a lot. Huge error from me getting the. Et sizes wrong
Which allowed the squeezer to re-open the action

Think you have to fold.  You are so often going to look at a horrible flop and very rarely will have a nut draw given the likelihood of broadway cards being dead.

what would Ali Mallu do?

he'd stand if he has 17 or better, hit on 16 if the dealer has a 7 or better and look to double at any semi-reasonable opportunity.

Paging Honeybadger <3

Stu's out saving the world these days, but I'll come in on his behalf and say what an absolutely dreadful game Irish is, take fun elements of NLHE, the fun elements to PLO and throw those away and just work with the boring parts of both games...

In multi-card plo a LOT of equity is derived from backdoor draws, in 5 card PLO it's not uncommon to have at least 3 relevant backdoor draws (10-20%!) effectively draws to turn cars that allow you continue passively or aggressively in the hand. This is completely removed in Irish, plus you then have to balance out the value of a made hand vs a draw, which is somewhat logical but also massively guessing for the most part. This means that pre-flop speculating is never gonna work, you can get a little splashy in loose multi-card plo games when you're IP but in full ring Irish, the game needs a SUPER nitty pre-flop strategy if you're gonna play profitably, flop good made hands and mop up inexperienced peoples mistakes (continuing with A4 on AT8 when it was 5 handed, keeping a non-nut SD on a flush draw board etc.)

I'm sure the £4 is absolutely fine initially, providing the games not too aggro pre-flop which i'd be staggered if it was, but after that need to fold at every spot, even if you were closing the action it's an absolute slam dunk fold for the £100 and even more slam dunk £220. Now you're in a spot where you've dusted £200 because you weren't concentrating at 5am (all been there!!!) and if you wanna fire the other £800 at it to try come out in a blaze of glory then I think that's fine, for sure a losing play though if that really matters at this point.
