Hi All.

New to this forum. I'm a recreational poker player of some experience, I don't tend to play online much, preferring to prop up the cash tables at my local casinos when I've nothing better to do.

As may be the case for you, one of my local casinos offers a bad beat jackpot. As the jackpot prize pool grows, the jackpot trigger criteria falls. I know also certain online sites have similar.

It got me thinking as to how likely it actually is for the bad beat to be triggered at any given point. Having your 'Full House Aces full of Tens' beaten, say, might sound pretty achieveable, but what is the reality?

To that end, I thought it would be a fun little project to write a program that would find out. Looking around it didn't seem like there was such a thing available.

So, that's what I've done. Its a fairly simplistic program which basically works by using a random number generator and running out thousands of hands, analysing each one to determine if the bad beat conditions are met. You can adjust the number of players, bad beat criteria, and also set your hole cards (so you can determine how pocket pairs, suited connectors etc. change your chances of winning)

Since I've gone to the trouble of this I thought it would be a shame to keep this to myself so I'm putting it into the public domain.

It is FREEWARE so feel free to distribute! I'll include the usual disclaimer that if it somehow wrecks your PC then I'm not liable, use at your own risk, etc etc.

As it was written in VB6, which is a very ancient programming tool, it may not work on all machines. I would appreciate your feedback as to whether it runs or not, (or any additional features you think would benefit) so then I can look at tweaking it.

I've included a screenshot so you can see what you're getting.

Enjoy!

Welcome to blonde.

Distributing it as an .exe is probably not the best idea from a security perspective. Maybe put the source code on github first?
