If you stuck one of the top women’s national teams into men’s football, what league would they be competitive in?

Peaked at 6.1 million viewers yesterday for the England game.

Most watched women's match ever in this country.

The pinnacle of the womens game...

Actually quite enjoyed the Eng v Scotland game, and the women's game in general is definitely getting more popular, but some of the hyperbole over it all is just crazy. It's the WORLD CUP and there's 13,000 in the stadium for an England v Scotland game? That's poor.

As for having an entirely single sex panel... Well... They should have had a token male on there so they could take over him every time he opened his mouth to say anything

I watched the game and it’s controversial obviously, but have a look at some of the bbc feeds and the comments on FB, we are white cheating racists and it’s all rigged against Africa apparently  Roll Eyes

I was impressed by the English players keeping their heads.

FIFA let the ref down when the Cameroon players appeared to be refusing to play: FIFA officials rather than the referee should have approached the Cameroon coach to explain the rulings and the consequences of not restarting the game. Subsequently the ref just tried to take the easiest line.

TBH I think I’d have let the Cameroon goal stand at the beginning of the 2nd half, even if technically incorrect: in these instances where a fraction (retreating player’s heel) of a player is in an offside position it makes VAR look farcical. Whatever happened to common sense? A sensible decision would have mitigated the earlier sense of injustice, perhaps.

Then again, two of the Cameroons should have seen Red cards....

The real loser here is the Women’s game: the lack of understanding of the rules by not only the Cameroon players, but also their coach, was extremely embarrassing. Who wants to watch this joke stuff? And then be worried about criticizing for fear of being branded racist? There’s a job that FIFA need to do now, in order to recover some credibility for Women’s football, but I suspect they’ll continue to be cowardly fence-sitters yet again.
