Jeez.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will become the highest paid player in NFL history, after agreeing a four-year contract extension reported to be worth $134m (£103m).

The 34-year-old will reportedly earn more than $80m by March 2019.

As a percentage of the Packers' salary cap, given his value to this particular roster, I would argue he is still significantly underpaid.

He reportedly gets $50-odd million just for signing.

This is all before tax of course.

I had a big long post about why Carl Lawson o7.5 sacks is arguably my favourite bet of the season on Redzone, but... they've removed the bloody market after his 2.5 sacks against the Bills in preseason. They've also removed Cordarelle Patterson o2.5 total TDs which I was going to look at as well

May have a little nibble on Bengals being sack leaders at 50/1, Geno and Dunlap signed up, the other guys looking good. It's a very long shot, and probably not going to happen but still

No concern about players getting paid not being motivated?

Maybe, but the Bears are an attractive proposition, with an exciting offensive mind and a building defense. That NFC North is becoming one of the best in the league. Raiders now in full rebuild mode for Vegas.

Seems like Gruden and Mack were on completely different pages from day one.

Minnesota must be worried, as their Offensive Line is very poor.

Looks like Jerrick Mckinnon is out for the year with a training ground injury. LA Rams have had an incredible summer in their Div with the way things have turned out in San Fran and to a lesser extent Seattle.

In fact their schedule early in the season includes Oakland who seem to be shall we say, planning ahead. Seattle who have had a complete overhaul from a defensive team to relying on Wilson and the offence. 49er's hit by injuries and Arizona. They play Minny at home in week 4 too who are having O line issues again due to injuries.

teams with rookie QBs on a first contract can go for it. If you are paying a frachise QB $80-130m you can't

Eagles, Rams, now Bears all trying to maximise their chances in a window, though i happen to support the only potential rookie franchise QB team that can't do it. Marvellous

meanwhile Madden declined the trade as being not enough :-)

Hate the Gruden strategy i have to say, though much of it is ownership being cash strapped (you have to put the guaranteed amount of contracts into escrow and they are already on the hook to 31 teams for the Vegas relocation fee)
